Well, this is a picture of what I had: (also with yellowing blotches on other plants' leaves). I can't tell for sure of course, it could be something else, but it was solved when I flushed well and added some epsom salt. and stopped watering so god damn much.

while your problem may be originating from bad roots, the symptoms is nevertheless showing a mag def. foliar feed with some epsom salt or calmag for a quick fix.

i have the same problem. they are around but there's no appearant damage. my guess is that there is damage, but in growth and budding (grams!). perhaps it's not very substantial. also having some root issues, not sure why but could be not because of the gnats.
