Depends on the camera. Some cams like night vision are infrared sensors. Typical security cams (like the one in my grow room) are illuminating. Of the several hundred cams I’ve installed all are illuminators.

These are not as exotic but are available on Amazon.

Are we allowed to use lids?

I just use a jewelers loupe and hold it over the phone lens.

Stealth cameras? Several stealth cameras are available such as smoke detector, clocks, and my favorite the usb wall wart camera.

Well I’m 63 and running Chinese leds and my toy fox terriers have no problems with defoliation.

i Know this is an old thread but has anyone had problems running a security cam that switches to infrared at darkness in a grow tent?
