Rollitup

Humidity goes quite low though despite on cool mode with the air cond. As low as 47 during light on. So I had to get a humidifier to increase the humidity during veg phase. Worked really well but it can get rather annoying topping up water to it everyday. But when you enter flowering, you want the humidity to be low anyways so, you wont the humidifier then.

Did you check out the grow channels I recommended? At least check out From Seed To Stoned. The dude is just brilliant. A lot info for beginners and his video production value is fantastic! You can watch it just to admire the beautiful shots of his buds. :)

Light leaks aren't really a concern for me because I'm using screw in LEDs so they aren't very conspicuous. I keep them on at night because temps are cooler at night to make up for the rise in temp when the lights are on in a very small enclosed space (cardboard box).

Did you grow 600g out of soil? That's an achievement you should be very proud of!

It's actually 650g in total. Lol. Very satisfying first harvest. Yep. It was grown in soil.

So I checked out Beginner buds and Seed to Stoned. They didn't mention many specifics about watering, which is where I suspect I went wrong, along with temp/humi.

Did you drench the soil for your first grow? I keep getting conflicting info about cannabis liking drier conditions and then another guy saying drench the soil until there's runoff at the bottom. Mind helping me out?

I can understand the confusion man. When I started I had the same questions as well.

I assume you have germinated the seeds successfully and transferred the seedling to a party cup filled with soil. Or did you transplant directly to the pot you will be growing in?

If you transplanted to a party cup first, make sure you have several holes at the bottom of the cup for water drainage. You dont have to drench the soil at this stage. Just water minimally around the the seedling and check to see how fast it dries, so that you can estimate how much you have to actually water.

If you transplanted the seedling directly into your final grow pot, just do the same. Water around the seedling. But it would take the seedling longer to establish roots compared to transplanting to party cup.

During the seedling stage, you can keep it in a humidity dome. Put the hygrometer inside the humidity dome for easier monitoring.

The dude from seed to stoned uses coco coir a lot. so does the people from beginner buds. So their watering and nutrient regime will be very different than soil. But you can still learn a lot from them in terms of plant training, etc.

It would be great if you can provide pics of what you are doing so far.

Just ordered the Biochar 2. Germinating has been perfectly fine (seed in cup of water then a moist paper towel in the dark). Taproot sprouts effortlessly. It's in the soil that it dies. So the soil only needs to be moist around the seedling?

I'll start posting pics for sure.

Germination has been perfect the last two times, it only dies in the soil. So to start just water around the seed is enough, no drenching necessary.

Huh. My comments keep getting moderated

Yeah I get that too sometimes. BTW how do you upload pics here? I wanted to show you pics from my first grow but I can only share links from other sites.

Biochar soil can be a bit "sticky". Make sure you properly break it apart and and soften it before putting it in the party cup or final pot. You just need to plain water the seedling the first 2 weeks before starting nutrient feeds.
