So lets say you have 5 plants and one comes out with red hairs. You would need a male of course. You would breed the male with the red haired female to get 2nd generation seeds. The best thing to do is plant the 2nd gen seeds and do it again.
But there is a possibility that you might not see that trait or would be very weak. If the trait is weak, then you would try again if you had more seeds to get a strong female with a strong trait of red hairs.
You can kind of think of the traits as being in a pool of possibility. Keep repeating until that trait is about 50% of the time, showing it weak or strong. Then take that and start with a new strain and repeat.
Then plant more and look for the red hairs plus whatever trait your going for with the Acapulco trait pool. Pick the strongest of that and breed with another male of AG. So on and so forth.
So say I get the red hairs to a level where they appear strong every generation. So now I want to bring in my next strain, let's say panama red, it has some super cool red leaves that id like https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=31721&page=38 when I introduce the new strain will that effect the probability of the red hairs?
Because your mixing it with a plant that likely doesn't have that trait in its pool. So you would see some with red, being strong purple haze, some without being Panama red and if your luck some with both red hairs and red leaves. And how strongly it shows both of the desired trait is just luck.
Wow I can see why it takes so long, I get the red hairs from purple haze and a gold bud from ag from breeding those together for a while, then I introduce panama red for those red leaves. And I look for one with all three traits I'm looking for? Then breed that with panama red again?
If you could grow lets say 100 plants and 50 turn out to be female. You could reasonably assume you would get 2-3 with both traits. Maybe more, but it just comes down to luck.
Okay I understand now. Just to clarify. I breed two plants together. A baby with both traits I want shows up. I breed it with another one of the babies?
Yes, correct. You could breed it with its dad, but due to cannabis being a seasonal plant it would likely have stop producing pollen by the time the 2nd gen flowers.
It would have to in the perfect spot, but yes its doable. Large window or siding glass door would be better, second floor, facing south, no trees blocking it.
Okay I made a post about this but so far nobodys bitten, do you know any like ancient growing techniques, like that Egyptians used or Chinese among others?
