My Grandmother, on my Dad's side, retold stories her Grandmother had told her about how the Russians displaced our people and they sought refuge in Canada in 1870. My mother tongue, which is spoken by less than 400k ppl, originated in what today is Ukraine. The brutality of Russia continues to this day. So please pardon my sensitivities as to why I fail to see the humor about being invaded.

I would be just as sensitive in your shoes. I apologize for not realizing you weren't joking one bit, and that the initial post struck a chord with you. Thank you for sharing that, because more people, including myself, but mainly americans, need to realize just where the felon and his tech bro oligarchs would have no problem taking the USA. They seem to have no issues being cruel to others. People in the USA need to wake up, as trying to restore a democracy once it's gone will be much more difficult, and painful, as the authoritarians won't want to give up what they will have stolen.

My nonno (grandfather) came over to canada from italy due to italys economic crisis after ww2 and our family was treated highly segregated, not only for being immigrants but for our skin tone, thats why you have towns that are "little italy" etc neighborhoods now long gone or restored that were for italian families only or irish take your pick on whatever euro country it was.
my other grandfather fought in ww2 and lost his brother in ww2 on the canadian side.
