List three things you learned from last grow.

DTW coco grower.

1. Ph drop test kit is cheaper and easier to use than meter. After a year of using a meter. Its tricky to get just below gold/yellow, 6.0 ph. Hard to determine what shade orange it is if you want to drift from 5.5 to 6.5. Will take practice.

2. Aerocloners with aquarium heater 72-75F water temp will root clones real well, IME better than root riot plugs. So I get enjoy all benefits of cloning.

3. Bud trimmers save sooo much time and do what was complimented as better job than hand trimming. Can trim a pound in a couple hours with ease. Trimming by hand gots to be horrible for them.

Really a list of three tools that made me a better/happier grower.
What specific bud trimmer? Doesn’t beat up the bud?

What specific bud trimmer? Doesn’t beat up the bud?

Old post lol that was my first serious run. I learned a couple runs later that budtrimmers mess up hash dumpers. I use my pheno for flower rosin only and found it was taking half the yield basically.

Hand trimming I went from 12% to 15-19%. I had strains that you could do anything to and will still get you high but if it dumps hash it can lose substantial amount of potency.

Them bud trimmers suck. Another thing is I learned to trim them by hand even faster than a bowl trimmer. Just get good genetics of low leaf to calyx ratio which is good stuff anyway.

Now that I harvested a couple pounds by hand its even faster. Like 8oz in 3hrs. What I dont get is you typically trim it a little then buck buds into trimmer but its already mostly trimmed right then and there. So the machine actually takes longer, about 4 hrs for 8 oz where as now its 3 hrs for 8 oz so its slightly faster.

Thats with me moving casually too.

Ah cuz harvest is upon me again and once again I was hoping there was some cool advancement in auto trimmers but looks like hand trim for life for me being a flower guy. Ty for response

Part 3.

1. Do not overthink your grow - ANY grow.
Its a plant … it doesn’t need special handling or extra supplements. It doesn’t need special water.

2. There are NO cannabis specific nutes.
Stop drinking the koolaid when buying fertilizer.
You do not need an entire line of nutes to grow a single plant. Especially if you are doing simple indoor grows. You can grow an entire run on a simple 5-5-5 general purpose dry fertilizer or for Hydro ( maxigrow / maxibloom for example ) 2 part.

No need for a hundred bottles of fluff. Keep money for better lights , better tent , etc.

3. Patience- Patience - Patience

Plant does not give a shit about calendars or weeks. It is in drivers seat and will finish when it finishes. No amount of “ boosters “ or youtube BS will change that.

Learn basic gardening and you will be fine.

Lastly - enjoy the ride and smoke a shit ton of weed.

1) The Cure is one of the most, If not the most important part of the process. 60/60 or make a cannitrol on the cheap for a foolproof way. Game changer for me. Sweet thread in the harvest section, koolatron or ghettotrol.

2) Don't take a vacation for 2 wks in the middle of flower and let your brother in law check on things while you are gone.

3) Res changes every week are severely overrated.

1 Some plants do NOT have the proper morphology or stretch for heavy training. Do what the plant wants to do, don’t force it to do what you want it to do, or it might just respond with “nah, fuck you”.

2 The final smoke test is the only test that REALLY matters for “keepers”. Be ready to pop a lot of seeds, and kill a lot of plants.

3 You’re never too experienced to learn something from every grow.

1. Introducing worm juice 3 weeks in can burn a sensitive strain.

2. Gaia Green dry amendments are mild, easy to top dress into soil, and really cut down on mixing and last 3-4 weeks with just regular watering.

3. Adding UV light during late flower weeks 6-9 did make plants even sticker than normal with crazy extra oils and aroma.

Examine and make notes, sometimes they make sense later. Check rootball, weigh results take photos. Note in journal or etc. Scientific approach. The notes can add up to a conclusion later. Check runoff ec and ph, keep better track of enviormental temp/rh. No such thing as too many notes, to some degree.

Allow a two week buffer, basically wait two weeks after flipping clones to take the next cuts. This way its a smoother lineup, veg plants wont be overgrown while waiting for flowers to finish. Keep a mom so you can replace a stunted clone that took 12 wks to start thriving.

Be extra careful when lollipop to consider if the plant has enough umph to go with the flow. If it might be short a couple oz, leave more branches on, consider lst and scrog like approach. Since it might not redirect into fat colas like a traditional structure, might be medium colas and smaller nugs. That are already diluted and wont get much smaller if to leave more growth.

An extention to above, I got PM and bud rot and just been scared to grow big plants. I had one 6oz plant boost my confidense tho. Ive quickly hit full size plants again but want to push it further. I learned my pheno spikes rh at first when overpacked but rh goes down as flowers thicken. Managing all this growth.

Ive had shady spots where I let myself go and let the colas just flop over eachother. Just canopy awareness and increasing it and grabbing the bull by the horns. If buds are small enough high rh dont matter but they can get real tiny, airy, larfy. So at the same time it just turns out how it turns out but leaving some growth behind wont hurt next time.
