So u can only have Vegative plants at 1foot by 1foot? Is that right? I recommend that u give LST a go. Tie the plant around the pot in a circle. This will help you control the size by cutting off anything that leaves ur parameter, whilst ensuring that you fill as much of that foot by foot with growth and not leave any space wasted.
Once it Buds then u can move the pots further apart as ur buds will overhang the sides of ur Pots.
