if you're going to build one of these, look for mist makers with the larger emitter (19mm vs 13mm) and ceramic coated disks.

I've heard that you can raise humidity in your dry space a bit to compensate for higher-that-ideal temperatures. If the bulk of the moisture is out of the buds it should be safe from mold.

Problem is, by exhausting out of the house, you are constantly pulling in cold dry air from outside. The air you remove has to be replaced, so you're going to be humidifying outside air just to put it back outside again? Going to take a BIG unit to humidify the entire outdoors !
