18 Days flowering...already got a few orange hairs.

So yeah...it's been 18 days now since i started flowering "popcorn". ALL CFL. I got 1 150 w, 1 27w, 1 23w, 1 14w, all are 2700K, She is at 25" tall, starting to smell pretty good once i take her out of her closet, but i think she's doing good, i just need to get more lights still...maybe today...but anywho...she's got a few orange hairs around the middle of her, and i'm starting to see alot of trichomes appear all over the bud area....i don't think im doing to bad for a first grow, and being that i've only put in about $25 so far...im on the come up..haha...how much longer do you guys think til harvest?? just an estimate, or any thoughts on how to get more buds?? Anything, this is my experiment...all you ganja guru's....use me at your will...IM READY TO LEARN ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!!!!!!

with hps light 250watt(no big elec.bill 3$/month!) would this plant bee 3x bigger! and you could grow under 10 of those plants! just a thought...never mind....lol....

I am so sick of people going into a CFL grow and saying stuff about HPS being SO MUCH better. Maybe his space would get to hot with HPS? Maybe he doesn't want to cut holes for vent in his wall/door because the HPS gives off ALOT of heat... imo CFLs are a good way to start off until you get into it more...

On the other hand, nice plants and your leaves are huge! The buds are looking pretty too. Good luck. :)

I hear you Dankie. Its like people go into a knife forum saying-Gee why don't you just get a gun? STFU!! There are a TON of perfectly good reasons to use CFL's instead of HPS. I've got over 800watts of CFL and all I hear is "why don't you get an HPS?"

Hey, man. I'm a noob and I ain't spending money on anything for my first grow, and all I HAVE is an HPS that I found in my basement. I gotta tell ya, I am NOT impressed with it.

My plants are growing slow, they're stretching for light, I have to keep it 3 feet away from them to keep it from burning their leaves, they're budding too young (they still only have leaves with 3 leaflets) because of there being more red spectra in the HPS as opposed to blue in CFL and MH (blue is better for veggin, red for buddin), and to top it all off, they're doing this IN A SOUTH FACING WINDOW!!!

I can't understand why you people are saying HPS is so great. I would rather switch to CFL. Well, I'd actually rather have a MH, but I don't know where to get one, or how much it costs, and I probably couldn't afford it anyways, so CFL would be a good substitute. But HPS sucks, in my experience.

If you cant grow with an HPS youre either

a) an awful grower
b) not actually using an HPS (mercury vapor perhaps?)
c) not doing something else right

Dont blame the HPS. And you can use a MH bulb in your HPS setup if thats what you want.

You can use a regular metal halide bulb in a regular HPS light? I have a seventy watt HPS system so if i buy a 70 watt MH bulb it will work :confused:

800w CFL!!! WHAT! Its all up to the grower really, but I wouldnt grow CFL given what I know. And I know that comparing cfl to hps IS like comparing a knife to a gun. Which one would you want? I would take the gun!

Dont worry, we are the ones with the big buds at the end. Sorry dude who posted the thread, your plants are looking great. The reason your getting red hairs so soon is because of lack of light, honestly, I was going to tell you that in the first place, but then i saw the guy using 800w of cfls

Well i updated the light setup, it's pretty dope now i think...The ones on top are 1 42w pointed down, and then a 27w going across the top, then the ring of lights are all 23w except for the "luxlite", it's a 20w, i think they are gonna work really good, i've been rotating the plant everyday, so i'm starting to see some density show up....

Lol, I'll admit I'm a little bit of a newb, but I've read VERY much information on this site... and I know when I start to grow, it will be a very good grow because I've done my research enough for a few weeks now.

If you are only growing a couple of plants you might be better served with something like 100w cfl's up top and other ones on the sides alternating spectrums since you could get intense lights to all parts of the plants . If ventilation/heat or $$ is a problem cfl's are the way to go .

There is more than one right way . At least people are growing - why knock em ? If it works for them why do you care ?
