My planned grow. Looking for opinions

I've decided to grow cannabis for the first time. My current plans are to have 2 small grow tents in my wardrobe. Each grow tent (1.4 sq meters - 16 sq feet) will house 2 plants for a total of 4, a 1000w hps and a small fan/carbon filter combo. As far as strains go I've narrowed it down to 2 strains each from GHSC, the Flowerbomb Kush or K-Train. Its come down to these 2 strains because of their genetics and their height and width will work well in the tent I'm buying. Arjan claims the Flowerbomb Kush flowers in just over 5 weeks but I've seen nothing else confirming this. Anyhoo, heres a list of equipment I'll be buying (minus seeds, soil and fertilizer)

Growtent (GL40) - http://glandorehydro.com/GROWLAB-TENT-RANGE.html
Fan/filter - http://www.growroom.com.au/shop/environmetal-control/filters-kits/cann-100mm-filter-kit/
Lights - http://www.growroom.com.au/shop/lighting/light-kits/1000watt-large-gull-kit/

I'm also thinking of buying a few small 600w LED lights and placing them at the bottom of the tent to get some more light to the base of the plant and get a bigger yield.

Let me know if I've made any mistakes in my planning. Cheers :)

May get a bit warm in there with 1000w wont it?
I use 1000w in a 4 x 4, without the ventilated hood it wouldn't be practicle.
Today, during the 6 hour dark cycle, temps dropped to 59.9 (even though I turned off all the oscillating fans to try and stop temps dropping too much)
But it still sometimes reaches 88/89 during lights on.

Sounds good. I'm jelly. lol... If heat becomes an issue you can always add fans? as long as you have you have a decent exhaust at the top should be fine I rate.

If you could use a 1000w in there you would have to control the temp, not sure if it's worth it, my tent warms up just using CFL's so who knows how warm it will get, I bet pretty warm. Mate I reckon you over thinking this for your first grow, take your time, get a tent some light's then take it from there, you learn a lot when you watch the plant grow. Unless you desperate for bud well then full steam ahead lad, lol.

With a 1000w in that space you need a cool tube even in the coldest months
In the hot months it may not be possible

If your serious about 1000w in a 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0 tent you really don't need any additional lighting - in fact it would be worse, not better.
So it should be ok with a single 1000w lamp? Would my fan provide enough ventilation to keep the temperature reasonable in these sized tents?

I'm fine with having to control the temperature assuming it can be done. I'm in a place in my life where I can be with the plants all day and take care of their every need. As far as over thinking it... maybe. But I'm a smart guy who loves cannabis and wants to throw himself into growing. Thats not to say I know everything or think I won't make mistakes, far from it. I just see no reason to start off with weaker lights and an inferior setting when I believe I have the ability to do fine with larger ones.

With a 1000w lamp you will need a ventilated hood and a more powerful fan.
And always try to get a fan one size bigger than you work out you'll need
They do much more than just fight smells and chnge air
THEY COMBAT TEMPERATURES

If it get cold you can use a fan controller or even a dimmer switch to moderate the fan speed

Yeah I reckon tone it down a little, maybe 400w or 600w but defiantly a cool tube, will a cool tube fit in such a small tent? Mate the problem with ventilation is that if the outside air is warm it's not really going to help, unless you use an a/c, well that's my logic anyway.

Just because you can spend lots of time with them doesn't mean you will necessarily be able to bring down temps.

600w is adequate in a 4 x 4.
Get a 1000w dimmable and bring it down to 600w to start with....

Yeah it's 4 x 4 x 6
I have a ducted up power plant aero wing in mine
2 x 6" clip on fans
A 18" Desk fan
a 6" Rhino carb filter....

I hear ya mate, it's really something growing weed, and I agree go for as much light as you can. It can get tedious adjusting shit all the time though. I have to build up my grow space slowly, cash flow and availability of products in my country limits what I can do, but I am happy I did it this way I have learned a lot. Next grow I am brining out the big guns, lol.

The air inside the room will be warmer than other parts of the house. Do you think it would be possible to combine a smaller wattage HPS with LED's due to the fact that LED's produce less heat? Maybe 600w HPS and 300w LED?

Not sure how the LED will work but I don't see a problem with that. There are some really knowledgeable LED guy's on RIU, try track them down.

Why don't you use CFL's with the HPS? Although you would only be able to use 24w cfl's the 85w are really big globes, so scrap that.;)

I'm not even going to comment on LED'S.
They're beyond my understanding.

Unless you're some kind of electronic whizzkid I would avoid them for now.

A 600w cool tube with T5 flouro's for side lighting...?

In a 4 x 4 you don't NEED side lights but if it's something that's got you hooked,,,,?

I've done a little research on LED's as I was originally going to use them to keep the power bill down. I've come to the conclusion that they aren't going to be powerful enough and if I want larger yields I should use other light sources. But I figure it can't hurt to have extra energy for the plants. At the very least, its not going to hurt them, and having them as extras may increase the yield without driving up the price and heat.

I'm not hooked on it per se, but I've read countless times that the larger the canopy gets the less light penetrates the lower branches. I didn't want to make that mistake. Would the canopy be a problem in this sized tent? At the very least it can't hurt to place the LED's there.
