I've done DWC and soil. I like how fast hydro grows but I prefer the taste of soil and, for me anyway, soil is much easier to deal with.

i tried soil and i tried hydro i did it with a dwc system made some research (some on this site) and let me tell you that it is not has hard as everybody think,yes the taste is a bit different but you dont have as many problem as you would think

I am never goin back to soil but thats only me

I went to a farm school as a kid and our teacher said that if soil makes your mouth water then you can plant a seed in it and it will grow. Seems to be true. I like soil too but I need to try this hydro out, only because I get bored sometimes and like to learn things. I will do a grow with hydro and then decide which I prefer.

Peat moss and perlite mixed with some garden lime is a great beginner mixture... just needs some nutes as the plants need them... shouldn't need anything for a couple weeks and even after a couple weeks the plants will only need a very mild feeding.

Trill. If you have experience growing and can notice subtle changes the plant makes, then by all means, get ur DWC or whatever hydro system you want. The learning curve is small. Problems will only arise if u have never grown before. Soil has more room for error and easier fixes. Hydro requires constant attention to detail. If you have had at least 1 healthy harvest under your belt, then hydro shouldnt be an issue.

Prioritize your set up. You need to buy a worthy light to grow 5 plants under. I would recommend a digital HID ballast. 400-600. If you blow your money on all the hydro gear then your still going to have poor results due to lighting. I would start with a well ballanced soil. Fox farm Ocean forest is what I started with and it works amazing. Hydro is over rated IMA. I grow just as good if not better from Organic soil. It is how nature intended. Some people just like to fuck with shit too much. If that's you than go get hussled into a big mess of a hydro setup. For a new grower it is kinda a bad way to learn. You are not experienced enough to know plant deficiencies or stages of growth. Soil is the way to go bro.
