No heat. What room temp would you suggest for this evap? I know you've made plenty of iso. Lol that was my first run ever. With cheap ISO. Lol...I was not trying to be insulting with the monkey comment I hope it wasn't taken that way. Ya a monkey can shake a jar and make iso...lol funny thought....but if that monkey doesn't use good technique he will end up with a poor tasting black mess. However if its treated properly, and filtered well, you will end up with either some golden shatter or some golden wax most of the time. Yours looks like it turned out pretty good man, I was never trying to be critical. Your very correct about BHO have some tech to it also, but as mentioned the danger factor is the biggest down side I see. I also have found much better results using next to no heat in my evap process, which retains more terpenes. I've dabbed some tasty BHO at the cannabis cup too so I'm not saying I won't dab it, I just don't make it

I do all mine with cheap ISO hehe, I can't get 99% any more but have tried it in the past. I always use 91% now, typically the cheaper the better. Stew I evap at whatever temp my basement is at. In thew summer I was getting a completely dry evap in 24hrs, now that its colder it took about 30 hrs last week. I do my evaps with my pyrex dish sitting ontop of my dehumidifier. I've got a couple little pieces of foam that hold the dish nicely in place. I set a furnace filter over the top to keep crap out, but to allow the air from the dehumidifier to blow still. I set the dish so that its only covering half of the vents on top of the unit, and so some air is hitting the bottom of the dish, and the rest blows upwards and then over the dish as it hits the furnace filter above it. Qwisoking a member here does natural evaps just by blowing a fan at the surface of the dish. The natural evaps take longer, but by not heating it up I really feel like you get much better flavor, color, and smell specifically. When I first started making oil I was evaping over a double boiler and getting decent oil, and it always turned out with a gooey texture. After I started evaping more naturally, I started getting pure shatters, and pure waxes with flavors really true to the buds they came from.
I really think filtration is a HUGE part of getting a nice end product. I typically filter all my washes twice before I evap them. I need to get around to ordering some small micron filters to really get it clean. Heres a couple pics of some of my errl.
Here is some freshly scraped Sin's OG oil.
This one had pink streaks through it, it came from a purple Platinum Delight I had.
I believe this was Powernap bud sap which turned into wax in about 24hrs at room temp.
Finally an array of several of my concentrates. Bottom left: bubba kush oil that was heat evaped, Top left: Powernap wax, Top right: big piece is Cindy99 shatter, and the small piece is critical jack shatter, bottom right: Sin's OG crystals from the first picture.
