I have tried to germinate my seed I put a few in a wet paper towel and left for 4 days the paper was still moist when I checked them but none opened.

I also put a few in a small glass left for few days and still none opened up.

what is the problem do you think it could be the quality of the seeds I got them from a friend not from a seed bank....:leaf::weed:

I got these free wwxskunk1 seeds and buried 4 and one releases a tap and proceeds to die and the other 3 don't even move. The last 20 or something seeds I had all germed, so I don't think its me?

If you are going to grow in soil, just put your seeds in soil in a starter pot. 1/4 - 1/2 inch deep. Water lightly, keep it warm and you will have plants up in 3-4 days.

AimAim is right for simplicity..LOADS of Info about on different Germ techniques..what Colour/Condition was the Seeds your friend gave you...could be just BUM seeds...

Peace

by-the-by..Think I read somewhere to only put Seeds in Soak(Glass water) for 24hrs? could be wrong...

Nearly forgot..did you use 2 plates/saucers with the Paper Towel Jobbies and what kinda Environment you placing these Seeds in? Temps/Humidity

Again Peace...

You could, but would have to be a fair distance away from Plants/Pots I think?? maybe just use a 22-30w CFL first...but think you can do it with ya Hps

AimAim and cc2012 know what they are talking about. Warmth is very important for successful germination. I germinate at 86f and have almost 100% success with good genetics. Good luck!

You could for sure, but I use a few CFLs the first couple weeks. Saves a few pennies and wear on the big bulbs. You're not gonna see any great difference between CFLs up close in their face, and HID lighting the first couple weeks.

Temp is important...I agree. At times it could be bad seeds or genetics but some methods are more effective. The in the cup of water for 24hr method can easily drown the seeds if they crack and you don't get to them in time. I like the paper towel sandwich method in a partially open tupperware or zip lock stuffed in a dark warm cabinet. Finally...HEAT and CFLs

No, NO No..don't do it...Lol...

Right to Ask though...

CFL have or I think own Ballast built in(in the Cap) Hps Need Ballast...the two are NOT compatible...

quick question. does CFL bulbs fit into The same reflector as HPS bulbs?
No they do not. CFL bulbs are internally or self-ballasted as cc2012 pointed out. A ballast regulates the flow of current to the bulb, so that the bulb operates properly. For example, HID lamps need much more electricity to ignite the lamp than they do thereafter, once the arc tube has warmed up. An HID bulb needs a ballast specific to the wattage and type of bulb (e.g. 600 watt high pressure sodium). I think they have different sized mogul sockets, anyways.

If you're getting random seeds someone pulled from a bag of bud you can at least try to check if they are matured. Wash your hands. Then, you should be able to roll a mature, uncompromised seed in between the tips of your thumb and index finger, applying some pressure and it will not break or crumble. If yours does then it most certainly would not have germinated.

A seed younger seed with a healthy embryo has cells which are full of water. Seeds that are up to a few years old (which were properly stored) don't need to be soaked. Older seeds might stand to be soaked for a brief period of time. Cannabis is not an aquatic plant though. Furthermore, the seed/seedling needs air exchange with the outside environment: plant roots require oxygen.

Direct to potting mix is best and most practical, IMO. Soil surface temperatures should be at least 72*.

I've read buffing the seeds lightly with a new emery board (rough side) does the job on stubborn seeds.

were they just in a damp paper towel or were they in between two plates or some other dark moist area?

Put em n a fuckin rock wool cube or pot of dirt, its amazing how well they pop with TIME, WARMTH, n MOISTURE, honestly it seems to always work.
