Right on! I'll have to make some notes and see how the fruits compare, the tree is getting ready to make some avocados, I'll post a pic tomorrow.
It's not Oro Negro. I'm growing Oro Negro which should be ready within a month. There are many select cados in Hawaii, none huge. I don't know what you have. Just got some 2 pounders yesterday from a buddy of mine out of Florida.

Here's the common ones. http://plantithawaii.com/sample-page/avocado/

If you can't find it here, you never will. :) http://www.hawaiifruit.net/Avocado.pdf

I have now and have mailed out hundreds of the "old" seeds collected by a friend (RIP) who sold tons of Mexican weed until about 8 years ago. He would collect and give me his best bagweed seeds from the kilos of Mex weed he bought. We're talking South Texas, fresh across the border.

It never failed forum buds would beg for them and then most would forget them, or lose them, in favor of "designer" genes, something with a name. Gotta have a frickin' name ya know. I pretty much stopped offering those seeds. I must have given a Florida noob a thousand of those old seeds and never saw a plant posted. I gave some old Mex and Zamal (African lineage from La Reunion) to a veteran grower years ago. He did real well with the plants outdoors, they grew huge and he just loved the way those plants grew, then somebody swiped the stuff. I still have some of the great sativas - old Mex, Zamal, Dalat Vietnamese, O. Haze from The Flying Dutchmen and Bros Grimm In/Out mix, the latter having some indica in it. As far as I know I'm the only one that still has some of Sly and Soul's original stock, stock that was used to create their Princess/C99 line. My 4 cola topping plant on page one is such an example. Cost me a buck a bean from a now defunct seedbank, the largest and one of the first out of Canada called Heaven's Stairway. I got 20 of them.

I'll try to get you in Cooter@666. That's where most of the veteran growers from RIU hang out.
You're making my mouth water over here, UB. Stop the teasing would ya? Anytime you feel like seeing a couple of those seeds turn into green gold, just give the ole Rocketman a shout. I would be glad to give them a shot, and yes, I'll post all the pics you want. I have a nice little setup in the house for organic soil grows. I grow one or two plants a year so I tend to really take care of plants. I have very limited space but the space I do have is productive and more than large enough for one big baby. I grow with a very time-tested batch of soil made from my own compost, a little pumice, some peat and the occasional feed with Jack's Classic. I also use a passive wick system in my planters to keep the perched water table out of the root zone. My planters are coated on the inside with MicroKote for root pruning. Even some of my outdoor grows aren't as healthy as my indoor stuff, no bugs, no birds shitting on my leaves, temps are controlled. I never prune or remove leaves for any reason because I simply don't have to, they just stay healthy as hell all the way through flower. The only non-traditional steps I take is training the plant to stay low. I find this actually really adds to the heartiness of the plant. The stalk gets thick and the additional foliage from the nodes just adds to the fun. I'm always amazed at how people hate the 'popcorn' they get on the lower branches, doesn't bother me a bit, I just let it go. I can see where the popcorn could really add to the time it takes to harvest when we're talking huge amounts of plants but for me, I consider it part of my yield. So enough rambling.....keep me in mind if you ever decide you would like a nice home for a couple of your magic beans, I take my personal little grow operation very seriously, it's all I got.

kill fields.jpgkill fields3.jpgkillo fields2.jpgReally, really want to apologize to the OP for the hijack. Just a couple quick pics for UB regarding my previous post. This is a Killing Fields from Sannies Shop just going into flower. I look for this to be a big yielder with all the bud sites that popped from the training. Having done this many times before, I can tell you I end up with at least three, sometimes as many as five big colas by the time it's done. It's almost as effective as topping.

Right on man! ....it's refreshing to share stories with people who actuality lived the dawn of modern cannabis cultivation, I remember being a little kid watering my dads schwaggy plants in the backyard in the 70's of course he tried to convince me he was growing his own tobacco, it didn't take me long to figure out the dealio was....lol

For commercial seeds you might be interested in some of the offering from Ace, Classic, Cannabiogen, Snow High, and Sub Rosa, those are just off the top of the ole dome, there are others you'll find then if you do some digging.

Sorry to the OP for the thread drift.
Thanks for the tip, Cooter. I did look into Ace but haven't heard of the others you mentioned. Dr.Greenthumb in Canada has some really nice looking possibilities but damn, that's a lot of cash for just the hopes of getting what I'm after. Thanks again, Cooter, I'll look into the others. Hopefully I can find a place willing to ship to the U.S

The fruit that comes off my tree look really similar to the Malama, and my neighbor's look similar to the Linda/Ota

Nice, thanks for the pix. Yours is just blooming, strange for me as everything is going dormant around here. Your neighbor's could be most any of the round fruit. My favorite being Reed.

It's like a perpetual spring out here, i grow veggies all year long with little issues, this time of the year things slow down a bit, but once we cross the winter solstice the plants really respond to the incresed daylight hours, The fruits setting on my cado tree will look like little hand grenades near the end of January.

Have you ever rooted a pineapple top? this one is few months old, it came from a store bought local pineapple (Maui Gold)

It's really simple, buy a whole pineapple and twist the top off with your hands, once you have the top off trim off some of the bottom leaves and place the top is a cup of water, give it a good 2 to 3 weeks and you should notice roots emerging, once that happens plant the rooted top in your favorite medium and you should be golden.

There's nothing wrong with popcorn. It's just what cannabis does thanks to apical dominance. Most blame it on a lack of light. Wrong....

I do a double harvest indoors or out. I cut off the colas at the exact point where they transition to popcorn, leave it alone for a while to bulk up, and then remove the bud and plant. Adds up. ;)

Thanks for the tip, UB. I may try that this time around. Typically, I hang on to the popcorn, leaves and other trash for a friend of mine who turns it all into some nice edibles for me. I'm usually ready to move onto another strain when my plant(s) are ready for harvest, I like to keep a variety stashed. This time, I don't have any fun, new seeds that peak my interest so maybe I'll just keep these two going until I can find something interesting. I have a friend digging through some old boxes as we speak. He swears he has a whole bag of seeds from back in the day. I just know he has some old Mexican Sativa seeds in that bag. If he can produce the stash, it's going to be an exciting couple months.

Hey Ben, my last post brings me to a question that's been bugging the hell out me for awhile. I picked up this little illustration from a post on RUI (credit to whomever posted it) some time ago and always wondered if there was any merit to it. I'm sure you're probably familiar with it but do you have any confidence in it's accuracy? View attachment 2929745
