who cares if its "legit" or not?
Drugs are drugs, regardless of why people use them. Its not helpful to discriminate against types of users. I have "legit" pain, yet I still use others scripts illegitimately. As do many others.

An OC80 would be an awesome weekend companion.

let me break it, break it, down for you.

I started using oxy first, then heroin, then Suboxone, that was 7 years ago, today I just got back from my daily trip to the methadone clinic, 7 years on methadone. I would quit the methadone... if I had a month off work and my family to lay in bed and sweat/puke/shit/ feel like commiting suicide. I heard once that methadone is like liquid handcuffs and for me it is. Since I smoke cannabis, I am not allowed to get what the clinic calls take home medication, where they put your daily doses in bottles and let you come in only once a week. So I have to drive 1hour total commute every early morning to get my medicine. If I want to go on a Vacation I have to let the Clinic know 2 months in advance and can only go away for 7 days. Oh and I also have to pay $105/weekly for the medication and some bullshit counseling. When I first signed up for this I was under the impression that I would be clean of everything including methadone in one year... 7 years later haha.

put it this way, STAY AWAY from it.

I have numerous friends that woke up dead, and countless others who have ruined their lives and the lives of their families to get a nod on.
Save yourself and your loved ones the expense of this disease.

How the hell do you wake up dead?

It never ceases to annoy me when people come here and preach for others to stay away from particular drugs just because they suffer from addiction to them. I've been addicted to opiates as well, but I'm not going to tell others to not use them. I love opiates, even though I don't even use them anymore. In fact I have 10 k8's right now because someone owed me money. They've been sitting here for a few days. Not even tempted to do them. With the mentality that people should stay away from certain drugs because you are addicted, and have seen people die from them, then you should tell everyone to stay away from beer.... stay away from driving cars... etc. etc.

i was prescribed with oxycodon 10mg, 4 times a day after a motorcycle accident.
it's an awesome painkiller, it does get you really fucking stoned, at least the first few days, and then i just got really nervous when it was wearing off (also came with pain from my injury)
and coming off it was no big fun neither. couldnt sleep for a few nights, and was generally very agitated.
pot helps, that's why were all here :)

in short.... enjoyable, but VERY addictive.

im not discriminating by any means my love for ops started recreationally before i developed body pain, everyones got there demons man. its all about your ability to control yourself. that's why i hate hanging out with my friends because they all act like im a junkie for using them legitimately, but who are they to tell me what i should and shouldn't do? especially if it allows me to live without aching all the fucking time and it doesn't even effect them in anyway because its not like i steal, lie ect to get it. i go to the bank and withdraw $ like a normal person with a normal job. and the worst part about it is its only if they find out somehow im on it then they become critical of me.

i guess it just pisses me off how others that may have had a problem with something act like addiction WILL happen if you touch it. not knowing the how the other persons mind/body will handle it

I truly hope the best for you Bud ! I have seen several docu's on methadone (and all of it's glory). BAD news.

I I was in the military 10 yrs, then in a job that i had to "be cool" until 2011. 15 yrs ago I had to have a hip replacement, 11 mo later the other one. Then it all started ...
Two knee surgeries, two back surgeries (broke back (L1,L2)) with fusion, surgery on elbow, and the most recent titanium addition is a neck fusion. Not to mention the gastro issues, depression (PTSD), Fibromyalgia. Needless to say I have been determined not able to do my job and not much of anything else.

I have been taking oxy's for about 12 yrs as well as klonopin, fentanyl, many muscle relaxers, Xanax .... and many others.
About a yr ago I started researching alternative meds. Guess what I found ? Yep ... MJ !

Being raised as my parents generation was, I was lied to about MJ. Not on purpose mind you ... just all the propaganda that our parents was force feed. Anyhow !
After much research (as much as, is out there). I bit the bullet and tried it. To my surprise, I was very happy with the results. My next step was to try without any pharm meds. It really works for me.

My goal was to get off as much pharm as I could. I got to a point to where I felt they were killing me. My body was breaking down. So I decided to start weening myself off, with the understanding that I may need professional help. With a very supportive wife/family, the time and determination, I set the goal. I am only 47 ... been through all these medical issues, drug dependency, 3 combat conflicts, and so on. I must say ... trying to stop the med's could be the hardest thing I have tried.
I am happy to report that I have stopped ALL pharm's ... Now ... other than vitamins, I only use my plant med !

Those opiates are bad news bro's and sista's ... That shit gets in your bone marrow. The vomiting, shits, shakes, cold sweats, hot flashes, bone and muscle pain, headaches and other symptoms. And that's just the withdraws ! Not to mention the liver damage, stomach, bowel problems, memory loss, and the constant thought of when to take the next. It was a great buzz (I wouldn't say bliss, but very pleasant) ... but not worth the end result.

Of course you mileage may vary ... just be VERY careful ! And yes

Well ... thats my story.

I was on 160 mg of methadone a day for five years, if you do 2 mg decrease a week it's doable. It's not fun by any means but it's manageable. It did get rough once I noticed the liquid in my cup was getting lower but I didn't feel like chit until I was down to about 30 mg. I went all the way down to 6 and just never went back. There were a few no sleep nights after I quit altogether, all in all not near like full width drawl but still wasn't easy by any means.

I just got so sick of exactly what you said, ask for vacay get maybe day week if your lucky...if your not at a high dose it sucks especially if you are under 100 dollars a week worth of methadone. They gave me such a hard time about cannabis I had to come back three times a week for counseling and never once in the five years pissed dirty for anything but cannabis. I guess my hatred for that place was a good driving factor lol.

If you want to take it, do it, it makes you feel wonderful. (10-30mg)

If you become addicted to it, sucks to be you. I have had my coasters with opiates(all of them) and I can say that with my attitude, I always cut myself back out of the addiction. Some people ^^^^^^^^ obviously aren't the same way. It depends on you. If you catch yourself fiending or being an addict, try to mend it. All it takes is will power, albeit, strong will power. Especially depending on how deep you are.
If you become a junkie, sucks. I wish you luck.
If you become addicted and quit, awesome, looks like you just built some character. You learn more from touching a hot stove than being told not to touch one which Is why when people tell others to stay away from it, it irritates me. NOT EVERYONE IS LIKE YOU.

If you just do it occasionally, awesome sauce.

Dude that really sucks, and it shouldn't be so inconvenient. The chemical aspect is bad enough, No reason to make it difficult from a societal standpoint. I mean, we do want a productive, healthy citizenry.

pain is a prison. Every fuckin day is shitty. Not that I want to replace onr prison for another, it's such a relief to not feel terrible.
Opiates are a fine line and I'm definitely physically dependent, but damn is my life easier with them. Plus ya got to come down after a while, the tolerance ceiling gets too high. Usually I simply plan step downs.

Stay on your doc, dot let him take the easy rout and just keep giving the same old meds. Different opiates have different threshold and changing up will slow your tolerance. I have friends who will use different substances depending on projected levels of pain rather than simply taking more and more of the same pill. Sorry about your cronic pain, it must be a real bitch.

some of you trouble sounds like a benzo problem. I would far rather come off oxy than benzos.

Thanks man, and it is. I know others have it worse off than me, but the chronic pain really does impact my quality of life as well as restrict options of activities. My doctor is a good woman, but she doesn't want me to experience the same problems some on this site and irl have gone through. I don't want to trade one pair of shackles for another, but that grass does look greener.

I do cycle a few times a year, I'm only on mild pain killers (hydro, codeine), muscle relaxers, nerve meds (gabapentin) and just recently trazadone for sleep. I tend to detox myself every so often to curb tolerance. Sometimes I run out, but I won't forget my first cold turkey after daily use for months. Thought I had the flu, with vomiting, hot/cold, killer headache, and diarrhea (god did I wish for the constipation again). Now I always step down.

Yes ... you are right. I started out with perks, hyrdo ... etc .. The physical addiction, I felt more by not taking the op's than the benzos so I started with them. The oxy's was longer to shake. But yes ... both was a bitch. 15 yrs plus (in all) is a long time to poison your body. I dont know that a body will ever fully recover.

Also, for me ... It is a huge difference when you need to take pain meds than taking for recreation. Of course !

Bottom line is ... I do not "need" the meds any less, I just got tired of feeling like dying. And that is how I felt/feel. Like my body and mind was shutting down. It has been almost 9 weeks since I last took anything. 2 months prior of weening. I feel so much better physically, and my head seems to be clearing out some. lol

This is just me. I think these meds are wonderful for what they are meant to do ... short term. And I enjoyed the hell out of them for a long time. Maybe a bit to much. Ha
But ... if I can help it, I do not want to go back on them. I am a lucky one to be able to drop them like that. Seems like a lot of folks struggle, if ever get off.

I will say this ... When your in pain like this, you have to have an alternative. I am thankful every day that I (after) 30 plus yrs I found cannabis. And if I didnt have that alternative, I would still be on the pharms. I went in having no faith that it would help at all. Wonderful surprise.

Funny: I do have to say (and remember, it was 30+ yrs since i tried MJ) that the "1st" time I was paranoid as hell. It was not good stuff either. Some crappy ass cart*l weed (all full of seeds). You know ... the whole "am I ok?, my heart? ... check ... cant breath? ... check). But I kept trying. And eventually I figured it all out :blsmoke: and now I have seedlings in my 1st grow.

Anyhow .. Thanks for letting me share.
