Just looking for opinions on the best way to clone for soil grows. Any and all advice appreciated
Thanks man appreciate the help. I have no access to anything other than my own per amended soil. Had peat plugs but they ran out. And I won't be making any orders online for a cpl months but I need to get some clones going. Again thanks for ur inputI would recommend something other than soil for the actual cloning. E.g. Rapid Rooters/rooting plugs that can be transplanted into soil.
Many "potting soils" really are more like soil-less mixes, though.

Sounds promising could u elaborate a little more on the necessary equip needed to build the DIY aero clonerI use a homemade aerocloner. Near 100% success. Get a timer that will turn on 1 minute or less and off for 5 minutes. 23 watt CFL. Plain tap water. Clonex or similar gel on the stems. The "woodier" the cutting, the longer it takes. Take cutting and put directly in cloner. If it drys out, it's toast.
Thanks man I actually just picked up clear solo cups so that should work. Great infoI have done clones every way known. I have had great success (99%) with all methods. That said, simple, cheap, low maintenance solution is clear solo cups with a slit in bottom filled with promix hp or fertilome, even coco and watered with ph 7 tap water. I spray the clones with antiwilt (bottom of leaves critical). I use clonex usually but you can do w/o. I don't dome and its dry as hell here. I put in indirect MH light on the floor in my veg room. You can see roots thru the solo cups. I like the fact that I water them once every 7 - 10 days. No need for daily work. If I clone for hydro I like rapid rooters and an e&f tray set to flood them 1" deep every 24 hours. Four trays of rapid rooters drop in a 2x4 tray, so 200 clones. Pop heat mat in the tray under the rapid rooters for faster results, but I recommend a thermostat with remote probe set at 85. Hands free baby!
Thank you and ya I'm stuck with soil for the moment. Have a small air pump but I don't even own a ph pen ( one in route amazon ) but ya limited resources and Walmart like two hours away man I live in the sticks. Cars broke ATM and its cooooooolllllddIf you're determined to clone in soil, I suggest you keep the soil moist, not saturated, at all times until you start getting some roots. I don't think you'll get a very high success rate, tho. You can buy everything you need for an aerocloner from Walmart and/or Home Depot
You'll need a 18 gallon or so tote with a lid. As dark as you can find. A hole saw or sharp knife. As many as you want of those split foam discs. A small pump, 60-100 gph or so. A timer that has been modified to fast cycle and either a pvc manifold for multiple sprayers or a single sprayer that sits on top of the pump. If you look up "Grow Colt" on Ebay , he sells the modified timers or search for his how-to on the internet or youtube and make your own. Requires a cheap timer and some glue. All you do is pull off two gears, throw one away, glue the other one, with a spacer, back in the same location. I bought mine ready made for like 20 bucks, but his tutorial looked pretty simple. I have two different short cycle timers. They are timed a little differently, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. The tote will leak around the lid. I hot glued a panda film "skirt" to the underside of the lid and that stopped the leak. Or you can just put it someplace where a little water won't cause a problem, like in a bathtub, shower, big pan, or outside. Keep an eye on the water level, tho. If the cuttings dry out, they'll die. Mine has never failed to root any cutting, even some that I probably shouldn't have used. Test the sprayers beforehand to made sure the spray will actually hit the stems. Do this outside, water goes everywhere! Home Depot carries the sprayers. The ones that spin work best. Don't put any nutes in the water. Plain tap water works fine. Don't forget to dip in rooting gel before placing in the cloner. I put a little Olivia's Rooting Compound in the water, but that may not be necessary.Sounds promising could u elaborate a little more on the necessary equip needed to build the DIY aero cloner
I suggest waiting until you have transportation. There's always something you need right away and if you have no wheels, you'll be hurting. I suppose there's no hydro stores nearby? If the nearest Walmart is 2 hours away, you must REALLY live in the sticks.Thank you and ya I'm stuck with soil for the moment. Absolutely would die without it here. Lol. Just dropped a few hundo on nutes and a new t5 so it'll be a cpl months before I'm ahead again with the holidays. Just was gunna see if just soil with a solo cup would be enough to clone cuz that's all I have now. Only two of 8 rooted on last attempt although my women's cat did some damage that's still bad odds. No access to anything else and funds are low. Worked my way up this past year from cfl to hps setup to seperate veg, and now I fear I may lose some good genetics I've obtained from this. I had success with peat plugs but Walmart near me put them away for the year and I can't order anything atm. Should have specified more from the get go my issue. Again thanks for the inputThank God for mail-order then.
