I see what we are debating here.

I work, therefore I receive food, shelter and clothing.
I work and deserve to receive food, shelter and clothing.
I receive food, shelter and clothing because I work.

We may be arguing semantics?

That is what you are debating apparently.

I am alive and I require certain things to survive. I also desire certain things to make my life better. I do not deserve these things simply because I exist.

The only rights people have are protections from the government.

Ithgout that was the whole point of the thread, could you provide yourself abcd working 40 hours a week.
The thread was a trap designed to direct an argument in one direction. It was so badly worded though that it failed.

If you I 40 hours a week do you deserve housing?? I guess I am supposed to say yes right? What level of housing do I deserve for 40 hours a week? Do I get a 6x9 cell or do I get to live in a 20 million dollar house? What do I deserve?

If I work 40 hours a week do I deserve food? I guess I am supposed to say yes right? What level of food do I deserve? Do I get the basics or am I entitled to filet mignon served by a 5 star chef for every meal? What do I deserve?

If I work 40 hours a week do I deserve healthcare? I guess I am supposed to say yes right? What level of healthcare do I deserve? Well, according to Obama, unlike everything else in life, I am entitled to unlimited healthcare as often as I need it regardless of what it costs... And not only do I get free healthcare, I get more of it if I DONT work 40 hours a week, in fact, I maximize my benefits if I dont work at all...

Nobody has a right to healthcare.

Seems a stupid thread.
I'll play the liberal advocate. We work 40 hours and the evil corporation doesn't pay us enough. We need more Obama money, Obama phones, housing with justice, Obamacare, clothing with justice, transitional assistance cash, and mo food stamps. You guessed it, another big government burger.

That's what this thread is about.

I interpreted it differently. I see it as a debate to redefine corporate governance and close corporate loopholes and provide minimum wage standards that are suitable for the masses.

Noting that many Wal-Mart employees hold food drives so their family can fucking eat.

I can't comment on liberal and democrat. I'm not a fool like that. The only way i see it is you have a job, why should you be given anything other than your pay.

If that is the stereotypical liberal view in the US though, then i'm giggling a little.

do you expect:

1. a home
2. food
3. clothes
4. healthcare
I expect my 40 hours of work per week at McDonalds to pay for my $8500 a month mortgage, my wife and my 12 children. We eat filet mignon and lobster most nights and go to the doctor 30 times a year for any and every minor issue, even a pimple is enough to go rushing to the E-Room. I also expect it to pay for our 4 vehicles and a new one every 3 years. I also expect it will pay for my brooks brothers suits , my wife's designer clothing and my Childrens fad clothes that need complete replacements twice a year.

Any questions?

Raising the minimum wage is not about helping the poor. Union public employee worker wages are directly tied to the minimum wage.

People who work at Walmart are going to be poor on $7 and they'll be poor on $14. Meanwhile, the hacks in the probation department, the water company, the dept. of business regulation, the DMV clerks, they all get bumped up from $60,000 a year to $77,000 a year. Their pay is tied to the minimum wage.

It's not about the masses. It's about making the government more powerful.

If I am the CEO of Walmart my interest is in the share holders not the employees. If you raise minimum wage I'll raise my prices. Or fire employees.

Try this at home: Take a small balloon and blow up to the size of your fist. Now squeeze and every time a new bubble goes between your fingers push it down. Repeat make sure to run around in circles while you do this for full effect.

Listen, Buck, I have no problem helping people who are legitimately in need. I do, however, have a big problem with handing out $1 Million worth of welfare over the last 10 years to people like Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

I've made that point before as well. The McDouble would, well... double in price.
