Peter Christ (LEAP) on the "War on Drugs!!"

Using the tobacco industry is a valid argument. Just HOW that is an "unregulated" industry baffles me, but it just goes to show that the governments position has nothing whatsoever to do with public health.

No, Here at RIU I'm in the minority. I've taken this stance before recently and have noticed the lack of interaction there after from people that used to interact with me on the regular. It doesn't bother me.

So the same system that everyone knows is corrupt and screwing things up now is going to implement controlled usage of meth, crack, pcp, and things like bath salts?

I'm all for education and treatment by the way. Reform to the current standards must adopted. I don't think fullout legalization of very hard drugs is the right path. When someone is chasing the dragon and looking through kitty litter for a piece of crack is legalization going to change that behavior? I have to assume that you have been directly affected by watching someone you love have their live torn apart and away from you because of one of these drugs. Legalizing something like crack is not going to help that person.
The internet isn't the best reflection of reality for the most part.

But yes, I had a son and two grandchildren who went through heroin addiction. It's tough, but I try not to let that emotion into my judgement. As a trooper and now as a part time volunteer substance abuse counselor I have been around that problem most my life. It's pretty much the 10/80/10 rule. There are the 10% of hard drug users who have zero problems and need nothing. Then the 80% who need treatment. The other 10% are going to have no control, no matter what laws, treatment, or fines we have in place.

And you're surprised?? Cops troll here, that's a given. As long as they are civil what can you do? I really don't hate cops, I just hate the opportunists (And there are entirely too many of those). LEAP is a prime example of common sense in Law Enforcement.

I don't man. Look at the bath salt zombies. My community was hit hard. Once it was off the store shelves there has been an abrupt decline in the craziness that went along with it. And morality is enforced everyday, I'm sure there are more than a few people that would kill someone if not for the consequences of the action. I know I'm on the minority side here when I say that I don't agree that wide open legalization of every substance should be made. Cannabis yes. Crack and bath salts being sold at the local pharmacy not so much. That's just me.
Who would buy bath salts if real drugs were legalized?
