should i cut the lower branches yet ???

I cut the lights on my plants 12 days ago and they are now starting to bud. I have some lower branches that do have some buds forming but my guess is they are not going to produce large worth anything. Should i go ahead a trim some of the lower branches now or wait a little longer to see if they start to produce buds worth keeping ??? Thanks everyone

without knowing anything at all about your setup or your skill level i'd suggest that this might be a good time to trim some of that lower growth and use it to learn how to clone your plants, assuming you don't know how already, ...there are many who run perpetual SOGs who never keep mother plants but instead take cuttings from lower branch's of newly flowering plants, usually at 2 weeks into flower, they then veg those clones until they can harvest the parent stock and then flower the clones and repeat the process.

good luck, bozo

tha is kind of what i did already a couple weeks ago but i didnt want to trim too much off....now i am seeing the plants take shape and guessing i can cut off a little more. im thinking of just going to town on 1 plants and not touching the other 4 then see what the results are at the end....Thanks bozo

I would take some for clones like he said. But for the most part, if this is your first grow. I would let it do its thing naturally. Learn from that. Experiment later. Concentrate on keeping the leafs green and healthy from start to finish and you will be golden.

you're welcome man and here is a link to a pretty good discussion on the topic you may find interesting.

I pinch off the very lower bud sites not the branches, it redirects the energy to the other buds but i never do them all at once, a few at a time so the plant doesnt stress

...you know defoliation sort of mimics animal grazing which happens in the wild and these plants evolved in the wild so they have developed a lifesaving strategy to animal grazing which is the growth spurt, that's why you see rapid growth after judicious pruning, ...take a read through that link i posted above and then maybe do a side-by-side or two and you might be surprised at the results.
