What is this glistening on my leaves?? :/

Hi RIU,

I have lately had problems with humidity, god it was reaching 100% with lights off and I was getting condensation real bad.
Even the plants were transpiring like crazy.

In the end I got a dehumidifier. It works but it has a problem, I can't set it to a timer which means I have to run it 24/7 which I would prefer not to do, so I am turning it on manually everyday.

The issue is cos of this transpiration, the leaves are dripping little drops of water over each other, especially lower foliage.

I noticed the water, wiped it down and they leave little white marks. But I am losing bits of leaf here and there I was thinking is it something more serious like spider mites?
I can't see any and I have zoomed in with my phone. I see these little white marks all on the leaves, they glisten with light and don't really wipe off unless I use force. It is on the top side of the leaf only except for the plants which have bits missing.

Have a look at these.

Can you see in the last few there's bits of leaf missing?

Any ideas anyone?

Not sure what is glistening, maybe something in the humidity.
Why is it so humid in the room? Humidity will become a huge problem for you if you try to flower them in that room.
I doubt it's spider mites, they like dry -hot conditions.
You could buy a air conditioned timer to cycle the dehumidifier on and off.

with in 2 days over 80 % humidity. its guaranteed mold ! in flower stage. veg its very possible to get mold as well . could be the start of a serious mold problem . get some fans and vet that shit out . run the fans 24 7 spend money get a good dehumidifier. if you cant then I suggest save the money your going to throw away on the electric bill. and buy some finished product off a friend . your going to have moldy buds. and you and friends family will be sick from it could hurt some body or worse with moldy buds

I had humidity high only with lights off for 2 days in a row, the humidity fell back to place when the lights were on so it wasn't all the time.

Mold? Really?

I'm still in veg!

Could be mold, could be something in the condensation but doubtful. You need to make sure you have good airflow, what is your fan setup like?

I guess I don't understand why there's a problem getting a decent timer for the dehumidifier. a home depot or lowes carries heavy duty timers. or you can buy online. I saw what looked like stippling which means mites or thrips. mites will be underneath the leaves. a magnifying glass will help if you can't see them clearly. make sure you know they're there before you spray. hope that helps.

I have a 250m3 5" on at 75% power. Venting in through the holes at the bottom of the tent. Is stays stable at around 25/26 humidity around 55. I have a clip on fan aimed towards the bulb and them an oscillating one suspended from the ceiling blowing across all the girls. This is on 24/7 whereas the clip on is only on during lights on.

The problem with a timer and the dehumidifier is that it needs to pressed on, doesn't work automatically. Annoying!

Stippling? Will have to look it up. Mites or thrips you say? Okay will research further.

A lot, if not most digital devices, reset when the power it turned off. To see if a device will work on a mechanical timer plug it into the wall (no timer). Turn it on. Unplug it. Plug is back in after a few seconds.

If device goes on it should work on your timer. If device stays off it won't work.

There might be a type of timer for digital devices but I'm not aware of one.

Yeah that's what I mean. I did exactly the same test the second day I had the dehumidifier......when it dawned on me that I may be away for a couple of days.

I have found a standard one but it doesn't have a humidistat. So I will have to research further!

where is all that humidity coming from?
Find the source of all that moisture and try to resolve it.
You are only going to kill your plants if you don't get it under control.
Can you move your grow somewhere else with less humidity?

It's to do with the temps falling when lights go off. Temps fall, Humidity rises
.
So what am I supposed to do about it? I've tried a tube heater, didn't work. I tried turning the extractor off an hour before lights off but the heat is too much and I still have the same problem.
Oil-filled rad would be the next option but that would take a bit more space. Maybe I'll get one some way.
I have got it under control now with the dehumidifier.
No cant move them, the tent is in a spare bedroom. Which is on the top (second floor). The room is at a constant 70%.

Now I have a similar problem in a smaller tent which has no extraction fan. Damn.

I might try heating the room but this has to be done manually on a daily basis.

All this extra electricity is costing me a fortune :shock:

Are you giving water late in the day? You need to move the moisture out of the tent before the lights go out. You may want to use something inside it at night that will absorb moisture as well.
