Put my 6 plants to best use !!!!

I just got my Colorado Medical Marijuana Registry Card. Thank you bongsmilie. Thank you very much. Of course, so far I have made good use of a couple of dispensaries for medicine. Thinking long term, I wish to put my 6 plant limit to best use. I do not fully understand how the caregiver or grower thing works if I decide not to grow my own. Could someone explain the caregiver thing to me to make the best use of my 6 plants. Also, as a note....although I have grow experience....I am an amatuer:wall: . Please help Colorado MMR patients and caregivers !!!!!

I am not sure how stuff goes in Colorado, but most caregivers here in the woods give an oz. a month to their patients and keep the rest as profit for caregiving. With a fee for any extra ounce(s) .But we are allowed 12 plants so maybe half ounce in Colorado? Some caregivers even charge for the oz which I think is outragous because they are making much more weed than they are giving away. But business is business. It is all based on the agreement between caregiver and patient. There are so many growers now you could even find some one that is growing for themselves and see if they will grow for you. Doubling their plant count can be very enticing.

Be careful, you have two options, either keep your right to grow your own six plants OR sign away your rights to do so to a caregiver/dispensary. You cannot legally do both. However, having said that, in Colorado under Amendment 64 (recreational marijuana) you are allowed the same 6 plants. So I would GUESS you could sign your Medical rights away (Amendment 20) and grow your 6 plants under Amendment 64.

It is my experience that keeping your growing rights will serve you the best. Many caregivers and dispensaries will give you a deal to sign over your rights, like a free 1/8th every month, or a free (one time) ounce when you sign over. Realize what your rights are WORTH. Even at 3 mature plants every 2 months, and 2-3 ounces per plant, your rights represent at least $5000 in product.

I recommend starting out a grow ASAP, you can start small on a budget and add things as you are able. Nothing beats growing your own, and it can be done pretty simply and on a budget if need be. If you have kids around it will need to be in a locked space. Get some clones and in about 3 months see what happens.

I'm always looking to help people with their first grow, PM me if you need anything.

My opinion:

Go to a few dispensaries and find one you like with a good deal and sign up there.
You can still go to other dispensaries.

I currently am not signed up with any dispensary. I only go there for vape pen carts and the occasional weed treat. My weed is better and cheaper.

That is absolutely true. There are slightly different rules for rec grows. I think you need to keep the room locked, but that may be up for interpretation. The legal definition of "enclosed space" could be your backyard.

It is my experience that keeping your growing rights will serve you the best.
If the guy wants free stuff, there is no reason to not sign rover caregiver. He can still grow.

A dispensary will not lose money on the deal.

I 100% agree.
I would go with organic soil, as it is the easiest way to grow. Mix up some soil and water it with tap water. Easy.
There are a ton of helpful people in the organics section. I would be happy to help anyone.
Organics are great.

You can pm me too. I have a red card and grow my own.
I am trying my hand at clones right now. I found a Blueberry sativa pheno that I want to keep and make seeds.

What do you mean?
Where can I read about this? I heard an opinion from a lawyer, but it was in a bar...
I was told you can sign over and grow. It may not matter.

There is the possibility that you can double your legal plant count to 12 if you have a red card.

From another thread:
So the latest news is that A64 and A20 are both each their own independent thing.
That means you can have 6 plants for medical, and 6 plants for recreational.

At a recent assembly, Rob Corry asked 4 attorneys about the interpretation of the laws. Three of them Said its absolutely legal to have 6 for each purpose. The other said that it would be deemed legal if ever challenged.
I can not find any thing to back that up.
The courts are scared of red cards and do not like to prosecute.
This makes sense as 64 tried to distance itself from mmj and clearly define the two as different.

You can have as many plants as you want if no one ever finds out.

Let's say you have a red card that is not signed over.
You post that in your grow room where you have 3 mature and 3 immature plants.
Then you go to a dispensary and sign over and become a member.

Then the police show up at your house for some reason.
Your unsigned red card and legal plant count should make the police go away.
I doubt they would call the registry to verify if the card had been signed over or not.
I can not imagine police caring much at all about a legal grow with 6 plants.

I know the medical and recreational not being additive was recommended by the Task Force, but I have not seen in codified. Maybe I missed it....

Signing over my "rights" to a dispensary for a measly 1/8 or even an ounce per month....now thats taking it up the pooper in my opinion. I mean, even using the example mentioned at 2 to 3 oz./plant/60days....with a minimum potential yield of 6 ounces every 60 days (which I think may be a little on the low side but nonetheless)....so, a couple o' three ounces per month coming off my State Sanctioned 3 plants in flower at a time....and a caregiver is going to drop me an 1/8. OUCH. Yes. I agree....Growing my own certainly beats the hell out of giving up my rights and getting reamed by a caregiver. And, I'll be damned if I was to give my plant count to a caregiver and pay the individual for medicine on top of giving up my plants...Also, as I inquired of the dispensaries I visited what the benefit of becoming a member of their specific collective was....and more times than not it was a discount across the board on all products....however, I dont recall if that required giving up my plants to the dispensary. In addition, the shear pleasure of growing is priceless. OK. Thanks for the comments. If anyone else cares to comment on how I might best utilize my State sanctioned/approved 6 plants I appreciate it. Something tells me there is more than one way to skin a cat....and additional ideas for maximizing the opportunity granted to me.

Go for it. I agree, nothing is better than growing your own, knowing what you put in it, very rewarding.

As far as maximizing your 6 plants, or 3 mature plants: Grow something you know you like. I usually recommend people to keep it simple the first time, getting through a grow successfully will whet your appetite.

The space you choose will help determine your grow, but generally with limited plant counts, I grow larger plants, topping most strains, basically you want to maximize your space/light.

Question here. When I was given my red card papers from the Doc he told me that I had permission to grow 12 plants here in the state of CO. I just started a grow and I am only growing 5 plants atm (with 2 seeds waiting to crack, probably will cull one) any opinions?

Really? A free 1/8th for doing nothing other than signing up? Sounds like a good deal to me. (I am not a member of any dispensary)

No one is giving you an ounce a month.
If you do not sign up you get nothing.

Most places do not need any members as they have enough to cover their plants.
One place told me on the down low that I don't need to sign up, just ask for member prices.

They are running a highly regulated business. This is not socialism. Again, if you do not sign up with someone, you get nothing. That 2-3 oz per plant every 60 days does not work, they have to veg them too. They have to pay $50,000 license fees, regulatory fees, state mandated security... They are a for profit business and have massive overhead that is not deductible.

Yes. I agree....Growing my own certainly beats the hell out of giving up my rights and getting reamed by a caregiver.
I will always grow, my weed is so much better than 99.99% of dispensary weed. It is so easy to grow great organic weed. The good folks in the organic section are very helpful. Watering with tap water every few days is so easy.
You are not getting "reamed by a caregiver" that is nonsense.

And, I'll be damned if I was to give my plant count to a caregiver and pay the individual for medicine on top of giving up my plants...
Then you will be damned, because that is how it works.

Also, as I inquired of the dispensaries I visited what the benefit of becoming a member of their specific collective was....and more times than not it was a discount across the board on all products....however, I dont recall if that required giving up my plants to the dispensary.
If you sign up as a member, you are making them your caregiver. When I ask about if you can sign up and grow, almost every one has said you can do that. Of course they would say that though.

If your red card is blank, how would anyone know if you are signed up somewhere?

In addition, the shear pleasure of growing is priceless.
Fuckin' A. I do not need to look at my plants every day, but I do.

You could buy 3 1,000 watt hps lights and grow one plant under each one. You could easily pull a pound a plant and legally keep all of it.

There are 4,080 ways to skin this cat.

Sign up at Kind Love, only buy shit from them when you want some of the best of the best avail. Then grow 6 plants of your own for your everyday smoke.

Also yea, plant numbers are dumb when I can pull 4lbs a plant and you can only pull 4 oz, etc.

You guys heard anything about extended counts lately btw? When we renewed our purple(no longer red) cards I got 24 and the woman got 18. A switch from the previous year when I had 12 and she had 36, lol.

Last time I spoke with an attorney he told me that was perfectly legal. Although keep in mind that was about a year ago. If you are 21 and posses a red card, why couldn't you do both? He even showed me a quote in a newspaper quoting the head of the denver police who said you can. In the quote, the police were against it of course, so Idk they may try to give people trouble for doing that..

If you can find a good caregiver then you can get a MUCH better deal for your plants then a dispensary will give you. Dispensaries are flat out greedy. This shit doesn't cost that much to produce, their mark ups are ridiculous and there deals for patients are shittyyyy. Most knock off like $30-50/OZ IF that at all. We are suppose to be HELPING sick patients here, not being greedy making millions off of them. There are plenty of good caregivers around this state, just have to find them. I know quite a few caregivers who give their patients a 1/2 OZ a month free of charge and any OZ after that $100 for top shelf quality that most dispensaries in Denver would charge $200-300 for. If you can find a good caregiver, def go with them. If not, then I would recommend growing your own. You can produce it for like $25/OZ or cheaper.

Best of luck,
Ex.

I need me a good caregiver, fuck. lol. Esp if they can deliver the $250+ stuff for half the price. We have 3 med patients. I could veg 6 and flower 6 and have 6 at a caregiver and be completely within state and local limits. Not even considering rec laws, which I agree, are separate, latest for now. In theory, barring local limits, we could have another 18 plants, lol. BTW, think I can fill a 4x8 tent with 2 600w using 6 plants and a scrog? Cuz I'm gonna be running TWO 4x8s soon!!

PS> There are some that hook up patients. I haven't been there in a LONG time but River Rock comes to mind. Granted, their bud isn't very good but for someone that is truly sick or not wanting the best stuff can get good deals there. Used to have them shitty OZs for $100 for members.

I didn't grow for a long time, so I told the doc I just wanna get as many extended plants as I could so I could get a good discount at a dispensary. He is down with RR and knows they take up to 24 plants for a 20% discount, so that's what he gave me. They also used to have a 20% off deal for seriously sick people.

6 in flower 6 in veg for 60+days and 6 cuttings, rinse and repeat under a 4x8 scrog with two 600's
Should supply more than 3 patients need.
Good luck

Are you saying section off a single 4x8 and veg in half and flower in the other? I'd worry too much light leaking.

Thats exactly what i would do. Light leaks can be seen easily and fixed. That should be an easy fix for any serious grower.
Ive seen people use light blocking curtains, wood, cardboard you name it.
