post your HPS light running costs?

can anyone tell me how much $ or £ it costs to run a HPS setup a month, I mean just a rough estimate? 400 or 600 watts?

Also I feel a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m is too much space for personal use, what does RIU think? ps, it is for personal use. Just upgraded my grow kit.

Subbing as i even im curious about the answer to this very question.

as for space, if you want a harvest which will last you sometime then growing more in one go would cover you. but each grower has there own choices.

(Wattage X hrs used per day) divided by 1000 = Kilowatt hrs used per day

multiply this answer by your kilowatt hour price to get cost.

In my case (600 X 24) divided by 1000 = 14.4 kW hrs used

14.4 X $0.07 (my electric cost is 7 cents/kWh) = $1.008 or $1/day running 24/7

Heres a calculator, you just need 3 pieces of info: wattage, hrs used, and your electricity cost per kWh

To figure total electric cost per grow just do the calculation for everything using electricity: other lights, fans, heaters, dehumidifiers etc

I have been watching bill closely where I am for a 400watt it's roughly $1.11 a day for 24 hr. 18 - 0.86 12/12 - 0.63 roughly. Not an electrician just what I have noticed on my bill

You can figure that shit out exactly. Using this I figured out my 400 watt HPS is costing around $20 a month in NorCal running 12/12.

i see this is an older(month) thread, but to save space i see if this will keep going.

Right, well dose anyone know roughly how many Kilowatt hours they are using? I know its not very specific, but i just wanted to compare..

so im running a 400watt hps. A 16-20( assume 20 ) watt fan, 25watt extraction fan(varies depending on time of day,i.e. 13w low25w high) , 20watt tube heater. So 465watts in one space. 12/12 space that is, so i just say its all 12/12.
Plus 1 125w cool white 'large' cfl, another 125watt warm white large cfl, sometimes another 20watt fan, sometimes another 28watt(just use 30 for easy math) heat mat. so say 230watt at most as the heater aint on when fan is. 18/6 space, and granted i use the warm white for an hour in morning/evening by itself, but just say 18/6.
So about 790 watts ... But also i have an 'electric house' with two of us in hear,2up one down small flat...

but im digressing, i trying to get to the point, im drawing just over 1000kw/hrs per 1/4annum,, based of my quarterly bill and numbers, thats just eleccie ay.
I pay 'dual fuel' so gas and electric, and its £130.00 per month.
So yeah i cant really compare but just wondered/curious, how many kilowatt hours your house/grow show is using??
Also the utility company dosn't mind as i pay it on time ever time you know... Anyhow sorry for the long windedness...
