how are these looking?

How do these look for being 3 weeks old? The droopy one is a Blue Cheese that was planted 10/23 (germinated seed to soil) and the other 3 are Dairy Queens that were planted about 3 days later. Growing in promix HP under 138 watts of CFL. They are all starting to get yellow bottom leaves. Havent fed them yet. They just get PHd tap water. Not sure why the BC is always droopy. They havent been watered since Sunday. The lights had only been on about 45 minutes before I took these pics so maybe that has something to do with it. As soon as these are big enough they will go under 400w HID. Ive seen pictures of other 3 or 4 week old plants and they are like 2 feet tall. Just kinda worried.

They need to be transplanted ASAP if you want some good growth. wait til they get really dry and cut the solo cups off from around them and transplant them into a 1-3 gallon pot.

For their size generally you wouldn't feed yet but for their age (and the age of your soil) you should consider a 1/4 or less nutrient solution, just water until some runs out the bottom of the cup and see how they do. They are looking like they need something.

If it were me, I would transplant those to a 1/2 gallon pot and make sure it has good drainage (add some perlite). I am not sure that root bound is your issue though...

Try the dilute nutrients first IMO.

They are fine in cups right now. You can wait until they get about a foot tall and then transplant into a larger pot. Pro-Mix needs nutrients immediately because it has no nutrient content. You need to get some nutrients on them.

What he said, I spaced on the medium being pro-mix. I would still start slow with adding the nutes.

I wondered. I had asked before and was told not to......that promix had enough to feed for 3 or 4 weeks. I should be due for some water tomorrow so I'll just feed instead. Hope this didn't set me back too far.

I mixed up some mild nutes when I got home from work. 128ppm in distilled water. I've got about 5 hrs of light left so I figured it would be ok to feed them tonight. They were pretty dry.

promix is peat and perlite. it has no nutritional value. mix in some compost when you transplant.

They did ok on the mild nutes. They are already coming out of their funk. Lesson learned............dont believe everything you read! Next grow ill be feeding as soon as I have a few sets of leaves.

bumped my nutes up to 350ppm yesterday. They seem to have handled it ok. Should I continue to increase nutes on the next water job? I read somewhere that they should be able to handle 500-600ppm at this stage. I think the bottom leaves on the Blue Cheese are done......should they be trimmed? They have gotten taller since i started feeding. When should I start thinking about putting these under my 400w MH? I was planning on it when I need to jump to a bigger pot.

That's not necessarily true.
I always plant in 1 or 2 gallon SMART pots and have never ad to worry about growth or yield.
I do agree that you should replant soon and put them in smart pots.
They don't get root bound or root rot in smart pots.
I really love using them.
You can't over water them either

the pics in the previous post are from last night at 8pm. These are from 9am. I can see a difference. Got some spots on the leaves that were yellow on my Blue Cheese. Must still need more ppm. Think when i pot up ill go to 550ppm. I got my air pots ready to go. Pre drilled even! Just drop in plant and water. I gave them a good soaking with PHd tap. Water loves to run out every hole to the soil gets good and packed. Each 3 gallon pot took about 1.5 gallons of water before it came out the bottom.

proix is a peat/lite mix. It has no nutritional vaue. A lght fertilization is a good idea

repotted into 3 gallon air pots today. They were getting pretty root bound. Probably could have done this sooner. Hit them with some 590ppm nutes and turned my ballast up to 100%. Packing the dirt around the solo cups worked out pretty good. Just drop in the plant and pack it a little. Perfect fit.
