all I can say is LOL to paying real money for a mobile app for a pot forum. lets tie my google play account and credit card to a pot growing forum.

Also lol at paying for an app to read a forum.

dont you have advertisers? dont you want lots of subscribers and posts. Wouldn't a mobile app up the post count thereby allowing you to command more advertising dollars?

to be fair, it looks like icmag and a couple others also charge for the priv.

I would consider paying for tap a talk since it works with many forums. (not riu) but you pissed away your money building a proprietary mobile app that will get barely any traction. good luck with that.

the way i've heard sunni explain it, tap a talk wants info from the site, that the site doesn't feel comfortable giving to them, which shit, i'm all for..

Settle down, if you don't want the app that's fine. Plus we are making so much money from ads were stupid rich anyways :-\ it's 1.99 if you don't want to pay for it then don't.

hmm interesting. now that you mention it I dont see ads even with noscript turned off when im logged in. when logged out there are ads. But a site this big is making money somehow or the servers dont stay on... Since I havent seen premium membership options I can only assume advertising pays the bills. Advertisers want members and post counts. a free mobile app would raise those.

Im all about capitalism trust me, I'm just thinking this isnt the best way to monetize the site. Though im admittatly not a site owner or expert on monetizing websites. Maybe these micro purchases are small enough people are just trained to buy now since the popularization of itunes and amazon.

I didnt know that about tap a talk, ive never used it just seen it when looking for a mobile version of a different site. ( i got annoyed they wanted me to buy tap a talk and I posted basically the same thing at that forum hehe)

i get paid in biotcins and finshaggy dollars for my mod work. all proceeds from the app go to our smoking habits, and coffee addictions for doing this for you.


now all jokes aside its 1.99 $ you are NOT forced to pay the 1.99 but if you wish then do so i would imagine the cost of the app is merely for the wages of the people involved BUILDING the app, luckily you can by pass the app just click NO when it asks.

you cant expect people to work solely on the intention of do good feel good work, web developers and app creators dont work for "thanks see ya another time"
they need to feed themselves ya know
