I will fill you in a little bit..There is a limited number of fisherman in most fisheries because of permits now days, but before around 1993 anybody could fish without permits, but you had to find a cannery that would buy your product or you couldn't sell and you would starve.. I started fishing in the late 1970s so I had markets and it worked for me..I have seen the weak people get weeded out of the business and there isn't very many of us left. And back in 2003 there was a industry buy back so the fisherman that were good at it bought 96 boats and they were never allowed to fish again so then our fishing got better with less boats on the water, and that was at a cost of 48 million..And then the fishing got a lot better...So it only took one generation..

The miserable failure they call the DEA was budgeted 3 billion in fy 2112, there is some fat that can be trimmed. Why is it that despite our mind boggling debt, I don't hear a peep about cutting spending. It's always raise taxes/

No I just didn't answer you at the time..I thought it was to personal of info to share on line at the time so I changed my profile at that time. you basically just admitted that i asked you about being a fisherman a while back (see bolded) and that you either didn't answer (as you claim) or told me you weren't (as i seem to recall).

either way, it's pretty silly to think that people are just breaking into the oregon fishing industry, that kind of thing is almost always handed down through the generations from what i understand.

IMO we need a combination of both. Too many cuts is no good, but we're not going to dig our way out of debt by tax increases alone. I think too much of either will hurt the economy in the long run, but doing neither would certainly be the worst.
