First time DWC and in need of help.

Hello fellow growers.




I am getting into DWC now as I have a good grip on soil now.
I have the following strains.

1: Feminized White Widow
2: Lady Bugs Bubba - Med-Man Brand
3: Oh God - Jordan of the islands (I heard these seeds won't be females, is that true? Jordan doesn't produce female seeds?
4: Kerala X Skunk #1 (regular)

In my DWC I have a problem.
I have a mother tree that I take clippings from. 6 survived but I'm getting the following results.


I am using Dutch Nutrient Formula A&B and my DWC is 13 Liters of water.
I put in about 30ml of nutes A&B and set my PH between 5.5 & 6.5
I also add a table spoon of Epsom Salt as my diagnosis with the above I think is either Nute burn or MG/Cal Def. (not sure)

I also use this chart as a ref to diagnose problem:

I use this PPM meter that I bought from ebay:

My PPM is about 900 when I reference the reading to the EC X 500
(which should I use? The X 750 or the X 500 as it has both reading charts on each side of the stick)

Now, about the Mamma in Soil.

I was spraying them with some Epsom salt in 1 liter of water when I thought they had MG/Cal Def...
Some of the over spray got onto the Mamma and I think this happen:



I put about 1 liter of water with 30ml of A & B Grow and let the plant feed from the bottom up.
I also pour some along the perimeter of the top of the pot.

I'm running a 1000W HPS @ about 20 inches away from the light.
I have let them veg up till now on 18/6 on a 400Watt HPS.
I keep my room misted at night (lights off) with a humidifier mister. (not sure if that is safe) I do however spray the room's walls
with a light mist of anti-fungi gardening spray to keep that under control because of the excess amount of humidity in the room.
I'm not sure if those brown spots are from the water being on the leaf and it burning the leaf from the light being on (did that a few times {big mistake})
I make sure the room is dry before the lights turn on to avoid magnification burn from the water spots.

If there is anything else I have forgotten or you need to know please ask.

Looks like a potassium deficiency to me.


*to delete attachments go into the manager and on the bottom it has your attachments(deleted pic's) hover on the one you want to delete and an "x" will appear in the upper right hand corner click it and then it will be gone repeat to get rid of the rest*

The recommendation for the nutes from the manufacturer say 5ml/liter and I have cut that in half to 30ml for the 13 liters?

What am I missing other than the obvious? lol
Experience sure is golden!

Oh, my roots are white, look healthy and a lot of them.
I'll bring down my PH and replace the water with just 10ml of nutes so the plants have something to feed on?
Is that the correct course of action from here?

I have to honestly say that does not look like nute burn to me it looks like a potassium deficiency but I'm no MR.Ganja. Good luck.

You mentioned you are using Dutch nutrients. Is that Canna Aqua? If so that is what I use for veg. They say 8ml per gallon but I use half of that. Always make sure to mix them in the water one at a time. I pour A into the water, mix it around and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then pour in B. Mix the water and let it sit for a few. I test the PH and adjust accordingly. Now it's ready to go. I have not had a single problem with these nutes.

BTW what are the temps in the water? Are you using city water or RO? What is the PPM of your starting water? Also are you topping off with fresh water or with nute water?

This is 5ml per 1 liter.

I have 6 plants in that little bubbler and I figured half strength is recommended.....

Reservoir water temp is 76.5 that is used. It doesn't even get a reading with the ppm stick.
Topping off with ph'd nute water and changing the water every 7 days.
To be honest with you I'm not even sure I'm reading the ppm stick correctly....
The stick blinks at 1.8 ec X 500 = 900 & 18 CF ec X 700 = 1260 ... is all that correct?

Sorry I meant water temp in the reservoir the plants are in. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Perhaps the nutes you are using don't have everything the plants want. I have to add Calmag to my water otherwise I get deficiency problems.

OH the only thing is you don't want to always top off with nute water. Check your ppm's first and that will tell you if you need to only top off with PH water or PH nute water.

Ya, i keep my ppm at a constant level.... when it reads out at 2.4 - 2.8(ec X 500 = 1350ppm), I change it out.
I hope that sounds right because I have no clue right about now. lol

The most traditional sign of too much nutes is the claw, and that bitch is clawed but I also believe it has other issues. Dwc takes much less nutes than other methods because roots are in constant contact with nutes. I never go above 650ppm in my buckets. And it could be bad genetics that just can't handle much. One thing i will tell you is that I would toss it and start over, It will never be anywhere close to what a healthy plant would yield. But hey, I've only grown a few plants, what do I know.

Well you may be right too much nutes will cause claw and I'm sure that theres other things happening as well like lockout thats why I see a potassium deficiency. Peace bro.

@OP I would ditch the plant as well it is too badly damaged to get any real yield from it now.

Pop & Stoner, Thanks for your input. I'm am totally new to all this but learn very quickly as I have every day and night to study this.
I hope this thread doesn't become a troll fest as I hope people would respect the forums threads and help address the problems people face with this type of plant.
Even though I only have a few posts, you will find that will quickly change as I love to put back into the community as much as I ask for.
Growing MJ is something I wish to become a master at eventually. (hopefully)
I have found this new passion and love it.
Hope my MMAR card comes soon!

If you can figure out what happened to the plant then you can just cut all the dead stuff of and re veg the plant. Not sure how that will affect potency or yield but if you want to get something from it I guess it won't hurt.

I think what I'm left with on these ones is to get something from it like experience at least.
It would be nice to see what the yield will be like for these clones, learn from it then make
some more and go through a new experience of problems I think and learn from that.
I'm just going to flip my mamma and start fresh on the next mamma beings these ones are going to
possibly be a crappy yield.

I have just replaced the water in the bin with ph5.5 nute water with ppm reading between .4 - .6 (between 200 & 300 {EC X 500})

For some reason the PPM is not moving at all...
I added 7ml of grow A&B and a table spoon of epsom salt to increase my mg
and bring my ppm up to 700 and my ph at 5.5 - 5.7.
I also have looked at my diff chart and see that I have no way of fixing a lot of the difs on there but I have noticed that
I have this tomato fert which is Natura Tomato & Vegetable Fertilizer 5.7.7 with all major and minor nutrients. So what I
was thinking was take a teaspoon of that and sprinkle it into the reservoir so it can dilute into the water and the plant can
feed off of that also if needed...? I don't know if that is safe or not in DWC.

Any feedback on that?

Not sure on what you should do next but I do think that you should experiment with what you have and see what you can do just for the experience. With that said I wouldn't rely on those plant at all and I would start growing something completely new.
