Is this hermed for sure?

I'm pretty sure this is herming, but is there any chance it is worth keeping or should I just chop this sucker? On some other I've seen maybe one weird version of a male flower, not really a sac but just one of those banana shaped things.

I see a funny looking sugar leaf (I think), I'd hold off on the chop were I you.
If you're that concerned about it I'd take my fiscars & trim it off & then look.
Once you section the piece in question it's really easy to tell if it's a flower (will be yellow on the inside).

that's good to hear. My past few grows have been plagued with issues so I'm ultra paranoid now, I think I mistakenly assumed herming bud for what was actually nutrient overload, specifically nitrogen, in the past. Now every time I see weird looking bud I think it's gone bad. This time around I think I got the npk ratio close to correct and these strange looking areas seem to just be sprouting new bud area. Sadly I've never seen that reaction.

I think you may be talking about "Fox-tailing" - I believe one contributor is + nitrogen late in flower.
