Give them a few more weeks. Colas ought to get bigger than that. Sativas take longer to finish.

My mother firmly believes in the first "cold nip" as she calls it. She's been growing outdoors for about 30 years now, and swears by waiting for the first couple frosts and picking a week or so later, in order to maximize potency and basically let the plant know it's time to finish for the year. A couple tips if you should be worried about the frost, or are expecting a hard frost (28-30F) you can cover your plants with a thin bed sheet (cheap thin ones from walmart in a color that won't stand out too much) or if small enough, use a bucket or tub over top. Also, if your plant is moist with dew going into the cold part of the night, sometimes a midnight shake will get a bit of extra moisture off before it freezes if you don't like the idea of drawing attention to it with a sheet. Also, its a good idea this time of year to give a shake after any rain, to help avoid bud rot as well.

Another note, the later it takes for the morning sun to hit your ladies, the more frost will affect them. If you get good sun first thing in the morning they'll handle it better than if they have to wait until 10 AM or so to get the sun. So depending on your location, you can decide whether or not to harvest. A week early is better than dead because you waited too long.

Not really worried yet just live in the Midwest And u know it's coming we are in the second week of October. I agree hard to cover a six foot plant up with a sheet and she is to big to bring in to my indoor grow spot

Another thing she's also done in the past when worried about an early frost with a couple more weeks to go on the plant, is a partial harvest. If you'd like to let your plant go longer, but you're sick about a frost that's on it's way, harvest 1/3-1/2 of the plant that is the closest to being finished, and leave the other half to finish out. This ensures you SOME safe harvest at the very least, and then it's not such a hit or miss with the second half as you know it won't be a complete loss if something happens. While it may not be a HUGE plus, this also leaves half of the plant with the same size root structure, which will help the lower/inner buds get a bit more energy to them and fill out a little better. Good luck sorting it out, and whatever happens, at least it'll be experience for next year :bigjoint:
