One of the worst parts about getting older for me is having to lose multiple canine friends over the years.
That Shit Hurts !
Haven't had a dog for a few years now. I tell people it's because I like the freedom you have. In truth it's probably closer to GWN's statement.

Agreed. It's been 13 years since mine went and I still havent got another one. There were always reasons/excuses like I'm going traveling again or it's not the right time. Ive got my cat and he's great. A lot less responsibility for sure.

I agree, I dont think I could ever get new dogs after having these 2... nothing will ever compare and it will just make me miss them so much, and all their qualities.. its like you can talk to them just by looking at them, and vice versa, you know exactly what they want, how theyre feeling, the little things they do... im sure gonna miss them when hes gone and dont think I could ever get a new dog and love it as much and look at it the same. nothing compares to that first little puppy you get when you were like 8 years old and grew up with it for 15-20 years, it is literally like losing a family member, but worse as theyve NEVER wronged me and have been nothing but good... almost makes me tear up a little bit just thinking about that big soft lump in his throat and his clouding eyes :'(

I hear you guys but providing a good solid home for a dog that needs rescue is also a good feeling. I adopted a 10 year old lab and 2 years later she's still doing pretty good. Who would have taken this girl from the shelter. She's well trained and someone left her there because they didn't want to or have the guts to let her live her senior years. This dog has never had an accident. Doesn't bark and while she's arthritic she's happy and goes for short walks. Plus I know it isn't going to be a 15 year commitment. It's going to hurt like hell when it happens but I know I gave her all she needed and more

I've never seen a dachshund with that coloration - he's cute.

And he could use a manicure as well.
Thank u very much. There arent many double dapples and even fewer with his gorgeous blue eyes. He def need a manicure and a bath. He goes 'bar hoping' (what we call the groomers) this Wednesday

I love the dapples. They are such a loveable breed. Are they Standards or minis. You don't see many Standards either. He's a chocolate double dapple eh.

This is his mom, Maddie, b4 she passed away. She is a black and white dapple.

This is his dad, Travis Barker. He is a black and tan dapple.

Together they made Mr.Pink, a double dapple! Mr.Pink and Travis Barker are standard (over 20 lbs) and Rusty Wallace, Madalyn and Charlotte (my other 3) are miniature (under 11 lbs)
