First Grow, Unknown Seed...Pros please Help!

Been lurking in the shadows like a nameless ghost for too long, here I am. Wasn't really excited about growing but I have no other choice lol....the vendor who I bought my favorite medicine from got busted BIG TIME and I have no other choice but to grow my own (THANK GOD I SAVED UP THE SEEDS) because all the other vendors nearby have crappy indica strains which I dont really like (not to say that indicas are bad, it's just that the varieties available here didn't cut it out for me. Doesn't have ANY SORT of head high; just makes me feel bored, lazy and gets my eyes red as fuck. I think I'm a sativahead, if I might say so.
I would REALLY appreciate help if I stray away from the chosen peaceful path:mrgreen:.

Now, I don't have a room set up for specifically for growing but am trying out a new way to grow till I can arrange for a room nearby just for growing my medicinebongsmilie.

All I'm using is the Sun and a 400W MH light/ballast(without a reflector ) , soilless potting mixture (coco-peat, perlite, vermiculite and manure) I take the pots inside the house as soon as the sun is about to set (between 6-7pm everyday) and turn the MH bulb on right till 12-1am in the night and then I take them out back to the balcony so they can rest and get sunlight again from dawn. I know, it's too much of an unorganized hassle but I'm just gonna do this till they grow upto 6-10 inches and will keep them outside in the balcony where they can get whatever sunlight they need throughout the day and flower. I'm planning to order a light controlled lumen switch to automatically turn on the lights at dusk and off at dawn so I can try and simulate a 24 hour veg period for however long I can before just putting it outside (it's anyways october/november so it's winter season here in India right now)....the amount of sun it'll get should be enough to flower(?), i figure. And being a sativa strain it shouldn't require too much of vegging also (please correct me if I'm wrong)

All this is just to float me till I can harvest some end product and or get a new grow room and order some QUALITY strains:twisted: (whichever comes earlier:confused:)

Attaching some pictures (LOL It aint SHIT compared to the grows that I've seen here. Soon though, sooooon:roll:)

PeaceOut:peace:

your plants look good....with a 400 watt MH, you will have no issues flowering the plants (but do try to get or make a reflector)

BTW...welcome to RIU

So your supplier got busted and you have your plant in plain sight on your balcony. Doesn't seem like a good idea. Why not just keep them inside under the light you have instead of the balcony?

Thank You, kind sir! Yes, I know I've been delaying it too much. Ill try getting some dimpled-aluminium sheet from somewhere asap.

LOL NO, that's just the windowsill where I kept the little babies for the mini-photoshoot that I did. The balcony is pretty out of sight, with enough place for many many pots. Also, the shops/suppliers where I'm from aren't like the legal clinics in say California or most of the US for that matter now (getting busted by the f*ds etc), they're these small time gang runners who peddle stuff on the road or through some shady stalls and have some other beefs going on with the police parallelly. Thanks for the suggestion though :)

Update 1: The one in the Blue pot has really taken off with supersized leaves. I've become a fervent believer in god all of a sudden and keep praying that the blue one turns out to be fem xD

I also topped the brown pot and f.i.med the one in the blue pot, lol jsut experimenting. Also, there are some marks/stains on some of the leaves, can someone please help me out n pinpoint towards the cause for that and is there anything to worry about?

I don't understand why you just don't grow them inside seems to me it's kind of late in the season to be starting an outdoor grow. This is harvest time for outdoor plants not planting time.

May god/goodness bless you and bring more fertility into your life :D:D Thx for the wish! YES YES LOL That godamn MH bulb attracts small insects and moths by the bucket!! After an onslaught of those irritating little creatures and my triumphant victory over them with a pesticide spray bottle(after moving away the little plantlings, of'course!) I make it a point to keep all the points of entry where the light is located sealed and closed off as possible.

Because I don't have a spare room, nor the money to be running 400watts 24/7(for now). Ill do whatever it takes to cultivate at least 6 pots full of medicine once I get that ever illusive job and some disposable cash in hand. I just rotate the pots between sunlight and the crude hps setup that I have for now to simulate the veg state before I take them out to flower in the normal season cycle as u mentioned (which I shall post about).

don't think bugs...more like a calcium/magnesium deficit....is your water source soft water?...if so you may wish to consider Cal-Mag

thank heavens...yes its soft water, I also just purchased a TDS meter and a pH meter which shows around 70 tds for tap water and the pH as 8.....Ive started adding a few drops of vinergar and bring the pH down to 6..that should do it, right?

the pH should be around 6.2 to 6.4 (for soil)...so yes, you need to bring it down from 8

vinegar will work but it may be better to buy "pH down" from your local garden shop...and you should consider some Cal-Mag (~ 1ml / litre)

The plants have Thrip damage, a bug problem....As seen in your earlier pics. The silvery squiggly lines in the leaves.

You don't have to run your light 24/7.
18/7 for veg and 12/7 for bloom.....

^:O How do I get rid of that now? I've stopped keeping the doors and windows open when the MH lamps are on which in turn doesnt allow any insects to get in. I cant see it on any more leaves thankfully. Does it spread or do I need to spray the plant with some fungicide etc?

I have never had any bugs, as such I have no knowledge of what a Thrip looks like or how to eradicate them.

....but I would suggest not to spray them with anything until you have confirmed you do in fact have bugs and the type of bugs.....then you can declare war
