Often when a brand manufacturer starts making a generic it's the original production line but they swap the dyes at the end of the line.
I don't know how strictly they're monitored but I know that every major pharma company does a ton of in house analysis to ensure that products meet their specifications.
I knew a guy who was a tech for Roxane until he got caught performing bioassays on samples as well. He had stories about being handed grams of full agonists so he could do tests that required < 50mg. Then he fucked up and dosed himself with an antagonist at work.
