And the Democrats were going to do what about corruption?

Straight up MM........
Here in Canada we've got Bush lite..They got into power when the Liberals were caught in a "scandal" overspending trying to save the country during a separation referendum. Now the all mighty Conservative party has a foreign Minister who...1st, said the leader of Afganistan should step down, well done..then he leaves Top Secret papers at his girlfriends house, who has ties & dated 2 Hells Angels..and is involved in lobbying.....then a member (on the same day as the apologies to the Indians for sexual abuse in forced schools run by clergy) says they should get off their asses..What has given Conservatives any right the spout their myopic views..?? Granted we don't have the toe tapping in toilets, hookers & gay affairs....etc, as you guys do.... but if true to form, as with the right..it's coming....I've always wondered why the minister of transportation, doesn't even drive. Or what does a lawyer know about Indian affairs...until Gov's on both sides start to vote in the right people for the job & not some millionaire talking head (or in Bush's case talking ass) we're all in trouble.....IMO.....peace

Well I certainly don't see how I got "owned" Med, but if that's your take on it, fine. I also fail to see how my statement regarding Pelosi and Reid equates to an endorsement for Republicans let alone the Bush Administration. If you'll look over my past posts you'll find that I am also critical of those on "The Right" but once again you'll gloss over that, yes? As for my "bragging"...how so? When asked where I'm from and I answer America....that's bragging? I didn't go around Indonesia spouting "Make way for the Americans!" Quite honestly, I was put off by the way the Germans referred to grown men as "boy". I'm proud of my heritage and I would never try to hide it. So yes, IMO anyone who tries to deny their heritage and country of origin is "scared". I don't live by those rules. I didn't/don't dispute our "status" in the eyes of the global community, I'm just not going to run from it.

And for the record, every time I said "We're Americans" the general reply was "I love America. I hate Bush." and of course they'd not get an argument from me.
Point taken...and a fair one......it really is all Bush...and NO ONE else...

Ya..there was a time not so long ago when you could respect & look to politicans
for wisdom and good government..Now there are no civil words for the caliber of person that inhabit that post now.....They no longer live among us, they think they live above us....and what fries my ass is the line..(given by those WE vote in) no comment...WTF...They should reply to any question posed to them unless a matter of security....How dare they................

Sounds to me like the Media is doing their job by exposing the corruption with in the Canadian Government....
And not sucking the Government's dick.

I'd say they are, luckily..but even the media shows have the talking heads & spin Dr.'s....that's what I don't like...Look at CNN, its the same blathering people on,
Blitzer, Dodds, inside with and AC 360....You hear the exact same speaking points on every show....All show, no substance..

I feel sorry for the people that are in places like Iowa, with the floods, they must be lost...look at New Orleans...and now they have their worst dreams happening, and right in the middle of a campaign...how much help do you think those poor people are expecting........I hope that if any of my RIU friends are enduring that crisis, that they be safe.....and from a Canuck...all my best hopes to them all....

Don't worry about the people from Iowa. They are in the middle of America's farm country. These people are tough and self sufficient. Unlike the "victims" of Katrina, you haven't seen anyone in Iowa on their rooftops with signs that say: "Please Mr. Bureaucrat, help me!" You can bet that the Iowans will have things back in order in record time. They are not, and never have been, wards of the Federal Plantation.

I wasn't going to go there, but your 100% right..If it was anywhere else (a couple of other states, same as NO) Imagine what would be the out cry if lets say Texas was in the same state so long after the fact...It's an outrage....the blatant racial
neglect...

Racial neglect? What racial neglect? Are you saying that tens of thousands of Katrina "victims" are still living in FEMA trailers in Mississippi because of racial neglect?

Well, now that you mentioned it, Yes!

So what kind of politician would I be, well I'd like to think that I wouldn't compromise my morals (and $200,000 is more than enough to make sure I don't do that)

And that I'd give any big corporation's lobbyists the finger and have them forceably thrown out of my office.

I'd also like to think I'd be able to do something about getting the government out of debt, and all that, but that requires cooperation of either 434 other representatives or 99 other senators.

Anyone else?

Well, now that you mentioned it, Yes!

So, with the latest hurricane, all the people (thousands) living in the Katrina trailers for the past three years, had to be evacuated from the trailers ... and then moved back into them. There is nothing "racial" about this abomination ... but it says EVERYTHING about the utter dependency, perpetual poverty and despair that state/federal sponsored welfarism brings upon people.

If expectations is lowered, people will learn to meet those expectations.
