Thinking more on this, what about making an exhaust in the ceiling to the attic have my ducked run from the room to the attic where I mount my fan and filter. The ONLY thing I don't know if it is a problem or not is having to push the air through the filter to be scrubbed. It would be outside the closet so this would be fine right? I think I am getting a Phresh filter so I just put the filter on the inside to Push the air through correct? Will this still keep the room cool or should I be pulling air through my hoods?
I guess the other option would be to mount the filter inside the room, have it set up Filter,Fan,Run through the cool tube and exhaust out?
Which would work better for closet. 2.5 x 3.5 x 5' height? The height is actually around 9' but I will probably cut that in to a little over 5'
I would take advantage of the ceiling height you have. My very first set up was as you described, filter in room, fan pulling through the filter and pushing through the light fixture and exhausting out to atsmophere. That worked okay, especially during winter but come summer it was just to dam hot. I mounted the carbon filter up as high as I could...heat rises, so I acomplished two things. 1) expelled the hottest air in the space. 2) controlled odor while fan was runnung.
Now since you mentioned the idea of running the duct work into the attic, I would consider spending a little more cash and cool the light on a seperate, dedicated run. You would need another fan and some more flex but the difference would be tremendous. I would draw cool air out of the attic and run it through the light and exhaust it as close to the attic vent as I could. I would do the same thing for the filter....run it on a seperate run out into the attic close to the attic vent. Ya it involves cutting a few holes in the ceiling but I just save the circular cut outs and number them. Write the number on the cut out and on the celing next to the hole where that cut out came off....later on if you have to repair the holes ...its a breeze.
When you bring in your fresh air to the space you will balance the pressure within the room....so you can eliminate any negative pressure. If you see that during winter that your room temps are running a little to cool, plug the fan that cools the light into a fan speed controller and slow the fan down...that will let the temp rise in your space. You can also set up your fan for the filter and the fresh air fan on a temp control unit so that they kick on or off on your desired temps. In other words if your space drops below 70 degrees, those fans will kick off. By the same token, if it gets to hot...say 80 degrees, those fans will kick on....Your filter fan will help expell extra heat as well. just examples.
