if you perfect it,you should be getting bigger yeilds than that with a 1000 watter.you can get 16+ oz using a 600 in soil.

  • 400 equivalent watts of cfl will absolutely outdo a 400w hps,in the right hands.With that being said a 1000w hps has no equal,40 26w cfls or led's wont have the coverage or penetration.

    that is misleading.. because its completely wrong....
    no hostility here... and them buds are tiny as hell... so it has to be wet weight.​

    im getting almost half a gram per watt... thats good for a first grow...

ull be lucky to pull half of that from 600w of cfl... just sayin

Dont even know why this is a topic. My comment probably wont even get read but anyone that thinks any amount of cfls can beat any HID lighting you are out of your mind.

I have 24 23 watt cfls and some 42s for side lighting(roughly 750watts) With 8 plants in the cab I pull a lb dry

I have a 600 cooltube, using the same sized cab I yield slightly better. Bout 20ozs using pretty much equal wattage. As I said before the cfl bud albeit slightly fluffier is more resinous.. I prefer the cfl bud. Its all around better.. though I use the hps for efficiency, less wattage and better yield. Not better quality

Thank you everybody for all the info and the quick responses! (btw there's no need for minor bickering). yes I should've had a bigger yield with the 1000 watter but iv had my fair share of probs. The first grow was in my root cellar and this last one was in my attic which is the grow i used my hps with. I struggled with germination then it was the daytime heat (switched to lights on at night) then everything went good till the root rot set in from the light leaks in the buckets. one of the big ones suffered BAD root rot and it bout killed it. That plant never recovered and at harvest i only got 15g from it. Once i figured out that h2o2 is just peroxide i started using it religiously and it fixed the slime prob. everything was going good till i tried to up the nutrient st and from a lack of checking the ppm's daily they shot to 2700 and my 2nd big one burnt bad 2wks from harvest, all and i mean ALL the fan leaves fell off. I tried flushing it for a week and it never came back so i cut it down. I got 89 dried grams from that one which was about 3'x3'. the bud was slightly premature butt cured out just fine. the 3 clones that were left i had no probs with from start to finish and they even finished out with lots of purple. They are still curing but im thinking ill have between 3 to 4 oz just from those 3 clones. thats what made me decide to go with SOG on a 4'x4' flood table. I guess ill just be sticking with my 1000w hps lol i was just trying to save some money on electricity. Thanks again for all the help guys!! Im a pretty smart guy and have alot of common sense but i am still trying to figure out the best setup for me. I started this just to keep from paying for stuff and now am looking to grow some extra for friends. Is it possible to get 2lbs with 16 plants on a 4'x4' flood in a 5'x5' room using the 1000w hps?

2 pounds is 896 grams if my math is right.. yes its possible but you have to be very experiences and have your stuff dialed in very well.. its almost a gram per watt.. its possible to get over 1 gram per watt too but like i said, you have to be a very good grower to do that.

well if its possible then thats what ill shoot for but in all reality id really like to get at least 1lb. Im using a high yielding strain as well

It won't outdo an HPS, but it can equal them.

I've done this experiment, last winter had a friend run 600W HPS up against my equivalent set-up at the time of mixed spectrum CFL's. In the end, my buds of the *same exact clones were basically the same as the friend's HPS.

The results are the reason I haven't switched to MH/HPS, yet I am not convinced CFL's emit enough UV/UVB by themselves to create proper terpine/oil development in flowering cannabis. And therefore, I'm going to either add an HPS or perhaps a self-ballasted reptile bulb or 2.

The setup im going for is a 5'x5' grow room with a 4'x4' flood table using 16 clones in 3gal grow bags with hydroton. I am going to use 24 of the 26w cfl's and my nutes will be sensi grow/bloom A/B with big bud bud candy and voodoo juice. I will be running Barneys Farm's Critical Kush which has a yield of 750+ per sq/mt and have my hopes set on 1 to 2 lbs out of every harvest. Is this even a remotely obtainable goal using the cfl's?

If you opt to stick with CFL's, I highly recommend the 42 watt sold in both 6500K and 2700K at Home Depot etc for $9 each...I have over 20. I also have 2 68 watters, and wish I didn't b/c they are twice the size of the 42's but only give out 50% more energy.

Also, 9 plants requires even more than my own system...and I'm almost up to 1,100 actual watts.

Your trying to outdo a 600,I don't know if I could outdo the right grower with a 600.
I've heard that a cmh the last few weeks really boost trichomes/terpine development....but then again using one the whole grow could be better.I'm not against hid's I just think anything below a 600,cfls can equal or do better for a skilled grower...and thats the truth.I'll take any equivalent 400 DOWN!!!!
