Right supplies for first grow box

Hello fellow stoners!

So I want to make my own first grow box and need some opinion whether I have chosen the right lights!
As I'm using metric scale I can provide my growbox size only in centimetres- 60cm (L) x 55cm (w) and 70cm (h)

Additional question- I'm concerned about heat of these lamps, would they provide enough heat in grow box for my ladies?

yes that light would work for the growth phase of the plant

as for heat ..............that should be accounted for with your intake and exhust fans .................if u do not have a intake and exhust fan system then u need to design one for the box...............u can utube how to hook up computer 80mm fans to a 12 volt plug

And how about odour, is it really that bad? Can you smell it in other rooms?

How can I fix that with as little budget as possible?

what kind of venting fo u use
are u a computer fan in the box ............a booster fan and vent to the box ..................a fan with holes

if u got pic they help alot ....................as i said those lights will work for growing the flowering u need lights in the 3000k range same bulb type with 4 pins

and yes if u are doing it right it should stink up a good 20 foot area the stinkier the better it means u done it right (if i leave my tent open it makes the whole house smell for a few hours)

smell controll is not cheap they have gel buckets that work but they need replacing and a carbon scrubber requires a decent amount of money to get a good one plus the fan and the ducting.................there are other methods but got to know what i am working with our wise i can ramble out ideas for days


ok just so u know if u made the box yourself alot of the times we mess up so no biggie..................this box if u do photo strain (meaning it needs light to trigger flowering 3000k and running(light times) a 12 on 12 off time) it has to be light proof/light proof area if light leaks on the plants during those 12 off time it mess up the yeild ..............the only color light can be used during the off 12 hours is green light (like a black light but green) this will not effect the plant at all and gives u a way to access water and clip during the off time if u need too

For ventilation I will use 3x 120mm PC fans. One for exhaust, one for[FONT=Arial, sans-serif] intake and one for circulation, so I think there won't be problems with that.

Yeah, as soon as I will be ready to switch to flowering I'll buy other lamps

Can you tell me more specific about odor control? Maybe you can send me link, where I can buy them- gel, carbon filters.
I have found these on ebay and though I can put them between exhaust fan and my grow box. Will it work?

My budget for all elements atm is ~200$, I hope it will be enough [/FONT]

Will they work for odor control if I put it between grow case and pc fan (ontop of the ventilation hole)?

u are using computer fans...................... at home depot they sell Juction boxs plastic ones ..............u need to find the size that is little bigger then the fan itself

u have to take it and cut it down .........one box will get u the 2 peices u need ..............take the peice put it on the outside of the box over the fan ..........now u go to a pet supply store and look for a active carbon filter mat (they pour water tho it) it has to be Active Carbon

now u take the mat and cut it to a square ..........when u are at home depot they sell face plates (for centeral vaccums ) u just remove the hinge part and u have the round open hole with 4 screw guides that match the juction box holes

u take the mat and line it up to the plate find where the screws will perice the mat ( very important once u know where the screws hit the mat u need to make slits in the mat to that spot so when u tighen the faceplate to the juction box the screws turn and do not twist up the mats )

then u just replace the mat every 2 months or when u notice stinky is getting stronger

as for smell controll

there is air polishing .................this is a hung active carbon filter with a fan sucking in air and passing it right back into the room
there is Ona buckets ................this is just cover up smell aborbs oder just ONA brand is made for us ppl
there is Ozone.........................u know that smell hospitals and labs have it is Ozone very effect but cost
there is Carbon Scrubbers...........this is like the polishing but the air is ejected out of the room to a venting point

with carbon scrubbers u need to know only a few things
1 the dust cover on the unit needs replacing every 2/3 months
2 when u get a unit u match the CFM ratings to the fan (if u can not always go over on the filter rather then the fan) fan is 400 cfms carbon is 510
3 the unit is only good for about 12 months of use (sucking 24 hours a day 365 days) ...............after this they are no longer effective u need to replace the active carbon inside or u need to replace the whole unit (if not refillable)

4 active carbon is no good to u unless u have a autoclave ( pressurized steam chamber getting above 700 degrees) after u have used it u can not reclaim it with out something that strong ............just toss it out

5 all carbon scrubbers are designed basically the same .........dust jacket to capture the big stuff...... then the air passes tho active carbon it the smells( the chemicals in the air all smells) fill the little holes in the carbon and cleaned air pass out into the ducting to the vent point......so they all suck air and need to be the First thing in the exhust route to be effective

since i was able to grow a beard i have at 18 i cut it amish style ...........and since then i have had it 16 years .........i have a hat looks kind of like thiers ..............now the lenght of it is about 6 7 inchs off my face

i do this so when i go out and get pulled of for speeding they give me a seat belt ticket ( have not had a speeding ticket other then traffic camrea since i had it had more then 20 seatbelt tickets )..............the other reason is in the bars ladies will walk up to me and ask if i am amish and it breaks the ices with out me play any silly ass games ............they come to me so the hard part is over seal the deal and get a great night

the last reason is my morals and standards they are closer to amish values then anything else (work hard treat ppl honestly and adviod lying )

Right now I I'm finishing my grow box. For some circumstances I'm doing PC stealth at them moment- so there is limited space unfortunatly.
I'm very curious about keeping my plant as small as possible, so I'm considering to swich 12/12 immediatly as soon as seeds will sprout. Any advice with that? I searched google for it but there are too many different opinions- one say that it is bad to switch 12/12 immediatly, one say that it is fine. Anyone had any real experience with it? Last of my concerns is to make 'em short and bushy, I have found that there are two main options LST and topping/pinching (don't know how to write it correctly). Anyone know any pictures or smth like that for starter to do it properly?

u need atleast 2 nods (this is baby leaf one set leaves 2nd started/ in and still small )
then change it to 12 /12 it will strech about 3 times that at most (thoery)

look into autoflowering short strains they made for just this reason

So I've almost made my PC Grow box. Here are the results. The only problem I have that there are light sprouting trough my PC when lights are on- any good advice how to get rid of the problem?


BTW, I'm considering installing 4th bulb- shoud I go with 4 2700k for vegging or maybe mixing it up- 3x 6500k and 1 2700k? And the opposide to flowering- 4x 2700k or 3x 2700k and 1x 6500k

stick with a 1 gallon pot ...........when u get 2 or 3 nodes on the plant top it (research this if new idea topic for u )

it will cause it to be bushier .............u can train the plant too(not my idea was given too me) those key rings are big loops of metal take one and slide it over the branch ....and then tie a string to the key ring and u can use that to pull the branch down (it is should be very low stress to the plant since the ring is smooth and it can slide )

Hi, justugh!

Yesterday got new vegg bulb-


Can't wait to see the results I'm just really wondering about the heat- I guess I will need to install more fans. And what about distance between plants and bulb? Before this I had very little distance between plant and bulb because of the low- it was ~5cm at all times.
