legalization coming to rhode island...

IMO its a crap shoot. The laws allow 3 mature plants per household, 2 commercial centers to supply 24 retail centers who can supply the public.

problem is there is a $50 tax on commercial center per ounce then it goes to retail center which will be sold at minimum of 100 ounce(plus 50 tax) so its already 150 an ounce before retailers can sell it. They will sell it for double the price minimum and then still have to pay 7% tax...

people are excited its going to be legal for anyone 21+ but not realizing if this bill passes (voted in favor last year already) that any mmj will be starting at $300 an ounce minimum and who knows what variety those 2 centers can put out and how long it takes to be perpetual to supply enough meds. Then it has to be tested by the state and regulated...

once this passes it will only get worst. Medical cardholders will be over ran by the general public who just want to smoke so the tax money will be generated and prices will be sky high because the states says so.

this type of thing should only be put into effect when retailers can grow there own or have options on where and what type to buy. its essentially a monopoly which the state runs.

thought the purpose of mmj was MEDICAL marijuana not just another thing to be taxed and treated as an income... this destroys any patients hope of being able to MEDICATE when NEEDED without having money available... not all people can afford to buy 2 ounces a month and majority of patients need just that for starters.

especially when turning bud into oils which are greater medical value. 3 plants will not allow patients to get the meds when needed.

I can get several months of a supply from just one plant grown indoors. I'd be more than happy to legally be allowed to grow 3 mature plants. I go through a bag every 5-7 days (8th's) and an oz lasts about 6-8 weeks. Like the old saying goes "It has to get worse before it get's better."

Why not just leave things the way they are and amend the laws slightly so the general public has access to the meds...

patients grow there own and can have caregivers... caregivers currently give patients meds free and sell excess to dispensary which is taxes and then taxed when sold from there... so they get there money still and people who are cannot afford these prices can get a caregiver to supply for them so they are not SOL.

to get rid of the cards completely and have everything controlled by the state is retarded and to only have 2 places be able to produce meds for these retailers is retarded... anyone can be a caregiver as long as they are 21 an have no drug felony so only thing they changing is to completely corner the market and if someone wants meds it has to be obtained through them and taxed.

patients are usually PATIENTS and cannot all work full time jobs ect. Its bull crap they cannot get free meds or atleast discounted without growing it themselfs which takes time and money and bills to do.

I agree but at the same time you have to look at it like this...It was voted for. Which means all the residents that wanted legal MMJ said this was the agreeable approach or am i missing something? Sucks though because I feel its something we should all enjoy without limitation.

Well this is not yet voted on... they tried to pass this same bill last 2 years in a row now. Never passed even though it was voted on because the feds.

now the feds are officially backing off supposidly anyways and since 51% last year was in favor im sure more will be in favor this year. So it should pass come february...

IMO, people see the legal part of it and do not realize the parts that come later which is lack of meds or lack of variety and mainly outrageous pricing which only a majority will be able to do since only 2 places can grow the meds... if this passes because these are overlooked then it will only get worst as time goes by.

they could atleast up the plant count so a perpetual harvest can be done at home to reasonable amount.

hell the first dispensary opened up this year and everyone was exstatic about it... then came the prices which were promised at 200 an ounce from every tour that was taken with managers and when doors opened they had 6-8 strains on the shelf max and high teen % meds at 400 an ounce. People were outraged and cardholders stopped giving meds to dispensaries cause they paid 2k a lb and resold at 400 an ounce. Then were taxed ontop of that ! Now they brought in some guy from california who is experienced and has access to seeds and willing to pay more for meds to fill the shelf with variety and quality meds...

should learn and act off experience and instead we are going to let the state controll the entire program. I hope it doesnt pass. There will come a time where it will be legal but we shouldnt settle for being controlled and allow it to be monopolized.

Read it again, 3 mature plants.

Perpetual is possible with this, think 1000W per plant and decent vegging...

At least you get to grow your own.

For now.
Congradulations Rhode Island for making a good decision

Oh and as to the 3 mature plants

Do you think 3 of these would be enough?

8-12 week veg, 1000w HPS per plant, flood table each...

Results would be similar and probably denser.

why should pot only be legal for med patients, and if i only want to get high, i got go pound sand?? how many so called med patients only came down with that medical condition when they found out weed cured it?? many, many, many would be my guess..
stop the semantics and legalize weed for all.. eff this medical pot stuff, let's get real here.. i wanna get high, people drink booze to get drunk, why should i feel ashamed because i wanna get stoned??
and just because they sell it at places, doesn't mean anyone can't and won't still buy it from the black market.. at least i won't be thrown in jail for having a gram of bud on me, or less, which has already happened to me, twice even..

Missing point that 8 week veg and 8-9 week flower is along time without meds that you have to pay at retail for exspensive then pay electric bill and all the equipment ect... some people are not capable og maintaining or building or buying the needed stuff... they dont deserve medicine becuase state wants the tax money?

also, its decriminalized here already. Anyone without a drug felony can get a card.. so noone said noone should be able to smoke.

So you can just give it to them then, problem solved.

Everyone else can live in the real world where plants take time to grow and stuff costs money...
