dude..the last time i forgot something at the grocery store they checked the tape to see if what i said was true..they did and i got my item! they were able to determine within a matter of seconds..it's almost scary.

EDIT: plus the lottery machine has some sort of record of data..that's how they tell where the winners come from before they even come forward to claim their prize.
