LEDs Do Not Grow Plants

I've heard this quite a bit recently. Here I present to you an assortment of Purple Maroc, Vanilla Kush(not pictured) and Pandora's Box grown all organically under the Kessil Spectral Spinner with 6 Magenta 350s. These were grown vegetatively for two weeks and then induced. They resided in a 50% RH environment in a 4x4 area with three gallon Smart Pots with a 78F average temp with lights on and a 63F average temp with lights off. They were pulled early at Day 50, as this was just a test run for some new genetics I am going to be working with (Tahoe OG and White Fire OG). I kept the spinner, on average, 16" away from the canopy.

No HPS supplementation, no chemical nutrients.

A stock image from the internet, the Spinner I used for the below pictures had solely H350 Magentas for veg and flower.

All of these photos were taken during intermediate trimming, final trimming was done after these photos were taken.

I averaged over 1 gram per watt. The colas were donkeys. The density was great. Out of twelve plants in 4 gallons I got right around 512 grams dry.

LEDs DO grow plants, you just saw the proof.

And that was just the first test run! I will be unveiling Tahoe OG, Medicine Man, White Fire OG, Blue OG, Black Widow, Kannabia Special, my first crossbred strain (unnamed) and more in the coming months.

Keep it simple,

I can taste them through my screen... don't ask me about this part...

I went to their site to check the spectrum. I guess they don't show that. I'm curious about the red 600-700. Also the blue end.

What's great to see is the density and the finish with LED. That part you don't always see, hence my asking about the red (and blue)

Nice job Snafu. LEDs do have their place in small grow environments. I think we will see a shift from HID in the coming years as more and more growers make the leap.

Big thumbs up to you and all the other LED growers leading the way.

I think it is more about LED's being as good as HPS, LPS, CLF or other forms of lighting, of course you can grow with LED's. Anyway I thought you would have gotten more from 12 plants or is that 512 grams per plant?

Also your light is not actually spinning is it, that sounds ridiculous lololol, take a video or something coz I would love to see that...

Nice job. Have seen a few decent LED grows. They fall short of HID lamps, but you can't argue with those kW/H savings. Btw if you're looking for the true Tahoe representation, its only found in its clone form. But I wish you luck and that you find a gem in its own right with those Tahoe beans.

I see possibilities, but the only reason I can see for the spinner is that the fixtures are to far apart. Why not in fill the spaces between with another fixture? There is the fact that they have 2 different types, but simply alternating by adding one more should solve that

Also making it so the lights are quickly removed/moved.

Most track light housings tilt, that would add considerable flexibility. I bet an MCPCBer could put something killa together around these ideas that should look Buck Rogers cool!

Nah, I trim wet. Just took the pictures half way through because I forgot to take them in the beginning! I also hate taking pictures after I finish trim, as everything needs to be cleaned and is just too sticky.

Nice bud, and how much for the lights?

Not cheap! But the electrical bill is great.

The lights I acquired for $240-$265 each. The spinner I think was like $250-300, somewhere round there.

All in all a large initial investment for lighting. However, no HVAC needed with LEDs(spinner as well), aside from maybe a little passive ventilation.

Gloves are worth the money, especially when trimming hydrated leaf off lots of buds and/or big buds

Hehe, this thread is not a "spike the football" statement. At least not yet.

1.42/g per watt is decent for a quick test run with an early cull off marginal phenotypes.

These initial results tell me that the spinner has some marked potential.

I plan on keeping this thread updated with my next rounds.
