hey man!! ordering one of these and thats what my questions about: what significance would you give the light reflecting mats you have on your walls? isnt it obsolete considering the angle of the leds? I mean, the light isnt a 360º like normal lamps. gotta know if I need it for my closet or if my white walls will do just fine. hope youll take the time to answer, your plants are looking great and looking forward to the upcoming photoes.
I use a few different brands of grow tents, and I'm not real sure of the different materials they use. They definitely reflect a lot of light. I was thinking of just trying in the closet, but in the end decided on going with tents. Investing in a tent allowed things to be a little better organized, and I love the ports for venting etc.

How many plants can an sgs cover? I want to get one for a 4x4 2 plant grow.
The SGS will cover 3x2 so that's a good sized plant. So one lamp per plant should be plenty.

Here are some pics from today.. I'm for real upset about not having cloned these couple I have up front..

If I can do it, you can do it. Also, cross over light(two lights) is always a good thing.

Looking prety nice there cherrypie.

What's up world? Things are still going well. I had someone PM me asking me how many plants I have in the bloom room. The buds shown in the picture are all coming from 3 plants. I have an additional two younger plants still going through their stretch. I'm doing a last 7-10 days of pushing the nutes to the max, and then tapering it down. I know there are lots of conflicting opinions regarding flushing. Last batch I flushed one and left one still receiving nutes, and I couldn't taste any difference.

I took a pic of the stems to show how small they are. Compared to my last couple runs where I didn't top, they seem to be a lot smaller. So far it appears that topping is really adding almost twice as many "decent" sized buds. So I think perhaps figuring out how to get the mainline going may increase the stem size.

Thanks for sharing the info and pics. I think mainlining will help. I plan on doing the same on my next run.

Thanks for stopping in! According to Area 51 the maximum coverage for the SGS-160 is 36"x36x so a little less than 1m x 1m, so two would cover at max 1.8 x .9m. However, the recommended coverage is 20" x 36", or 40" x 36" for two. With that said, 2 of these things should be able to handle the 2 plant SCROG to perfection. It hardly gives off any heat, or uses any energy, and the lights are positioned perfectly.

I dont want to say the wrong thing so you should probably holler at the folks at A51 to be sure.

Hey mate all sounds good to me I've been speaking with Jeff over at a51 he's a pretty cool dude and was happy to share info with us in regards to coverage etc . These lights are really kickin ass man your doin a killer job on your grow I'm waiting until October to get my LEDs from them apparently there updating the LEDs in the units round that time I'm fukn itching to get a hold of them man I rekn I'll probably run 3 in my area hopefully get some nice results like your self!

peace man and nice work

What up world!!! It has been a good cpl weeks... No FUCK THAT.. It has been a GREAT cpl weeks! Took a few clippings on 8/18 (or the first day of the 7th week! 3 nice, super dense buds covered in triches that were mostly cloudy, but some clear) and again the 22nd and yesterday (the first day of week 8.. I will take pics of the couple buds tomorrow.. triches all cloudy) have came up with 15g dry buds so far, haven't bothered weighing the wet stuff from yesterday. I had finished the last whispy bud of some nasty ass auto freebie (never again, I swear even the best of the 4 autos was still like smoking some 'tendies) the second week of this month, so I was dry which is why I clipped some early, but I expect the triches on the main buds in the canopy will be turning amber this week.

I will take pics and update everything tomorrow, but had some pictures from the 21st that I wanted to finally throw out.. The remaining buds have all continued to swell really nicely, and I am happy to report all sample buds have been completely sensi!

Pics from the 21st:

Here are a few pics of the buds clipped a few days ago.. The smell is so delicious and really hasn't faded any. It was dry enough to smoke fine in a swisher, so I moved them to a dry screen to prepare for the Boveda jars. Any small time personal growers not using Boveda packs are losing. It is the easiest way to get a perfect cure. I'm not trying to debate, it is simply a fact that they provide an optimal environment.

Nice buds cherryp. Yup, I agree, Bovedas make it so easy... http://www.bovedainc.com/store/herbal/

I have found that adding the packs after the dry and burp (65% RH stable) makes them last a lot longer. I went five months before I replaced my last set of Bovedas. I keep portable hydrometers in my jars to track the effectiveness. They don't move from 62%, I can attest to this.

Looking good. Some buds seem tighter than others. Is it different strains or seeds?

A bunch of different strains, a bunch of different seeds.. Then kept my favorite 3. Now that I've learned how to clone, the buds should show more uniformity. All buds have been super dense, like afraid they got pregnant dense. I'll bust open a couple buds and let yall see, but there are a few distinctly different bud types so I see what you're sayin. There's one with a lot more hairs that does seem a little more.. loose.

I clipped a majority and should get to the rest sometime the next 24 hrs, so I should have a dry weight by weeks end. Thanks to everybody who's stuck around!

Why aren't you guys doing the freezer cure??? best taste and simplest system ever! OHH and it's FREE (freezer/paperbag), obviously NOT for large yields, but for personal it's unbeatable. look up sublimation ...........hint:0

Good question, why am I not freezing my bud? I researched curing for over six months trying to find the best way to preserve bud and enhance the flavors. Most growers won't have the bud for more than a month or two before it's all gone and the next harvest is ready. My stock lasts for years and needed to be the best dry / cure process available.

Here is a secret, bud matures and becomes better with age, talking about six-month bud that's properly dried, cured, and stored. I'm not talking about the plastic baggie of brown dried out swag. That started as crap and always will be.

I sampled both methods, freezing and jar cure, on the same harvested buds. Freezer: It's harsh and flavors are dulled by half. But, I guess if you get high fast enough who cares, right? I just can't throw this baby into the deep freeze. no way!

Freezing bud has been discussed a lot on the Internet and written back in 2010 by Ed Rosenthal. I'm just not sold on this technique. Ever eat meat or vegetables that have been frozen compared to fresh? How about stuff that's been in the freezer too long, you know, that old popsicle from way in the back, taste good? Freezing works. It's just not what I'm looking for in my end results.

And I guess, if you are going to spend money, I would invest in the most important part of the grow process, drying and curing. I spare my flowers and only use sublimation for the leaves and the fluff, aka: dry ice hash.
