What I am working with and what I want to do:
  • Closet grow
  • Looking to grow for personal use only, so not looking to get ounces upon ounces
  • Looking to grow 2 plants - both Blue Mystic auto
  • No chance of ventilation setup so looking to do CFL or LED
  • Space is about 8 x 8 x 10- but again not looking to utilize the whole area

Initially was thinking a Spacebucket set-up but thinking it may be too small....thoughts?

Also was thinking of getting a 3x3x5 tent as well.

Again, just looking for any input or suggestions.

Id still go with hps, that size area without ventilation would still manage a 400w - i had a 4x4x6 tent with no ventilation running a 600 and temps max was 90f and the biggest problem i really had was temps at lights of being too cold. A 400 in a bigger space like your would be better. And put plenty of fans inside to keep circulation.. Ive got friends that have taken the led challenge against hps - at this stage the hps still wins. Just a thought.... And as for the grow - im in coco at the moment, and whole heartedly reccomend it. The rest depends on what you have at your disposal.

Not interested in HPS. At least for now. Not looking to have heat issues and CFL's will do the trick for the yield i am looking for.

personally your gonna spend as much as a HPS almost in CFL's to grow 2 plants. CFL's have ballast built in to them so the heat is gonna be almost the same in the end. If your growing for your self then shouldn't u get your self the best you can.

EDIT: CFL's are ok for veg IMO but for flower HPS is the best. you can use a 250w even if 2 is all you want.

not so fast on the cfl ! 450 watt t5 set up still makes 450 watts of heat , I know I use cfl and hps together, on hot days, I have to shut off the cfl to much heat, you need to get a cool tube or air flow hood put your hps or mh bulb into it and blow the heat out. less heat in the room. or you could suck the air out as well with cfl. if you want bulk go with hps, money saver cfl . nothing special . if you want top notch best quality as possible in the world. use mh blue 7200 k , lower yields just like cfl. but the difference will be way better, and get a quality bulb, or don't bother, lot of people use 30 dollar bulbs and bitch and blame every thing else, people there is a reason why a mh bulb cost 240 dollars . what I use, . any ways hope this helps

OK firstly: Why are you planning on AUTOS when you're growing INDOORS? You nerf your yeild and quality by having some ruderalis genetics when you can grow a photoperiod strain in perfect conditions indoors... Secondly: You can't LST/TOP/FIM autos like you can photoperiod strains, this reduces the effectiveness of CFL bulbs due to their lumen droppoff rate (bulb needs to be very close to as much of the plant as possible). You can flower with CFL's just remember you need as many as you can possibly fit into the cupboard!

With the magplus (330watts,it's 3 or 4 years old now and still works great), I have pulled over 10 Oz. from a 4x4 tray. They have a newer version now. This light or similar would be great for a 3x3 tray in a 3.5x3.5 tent. Having 2 doors on the tent is best for access. Just run the lights at night to help maintain temps. If tent gets to hot, vent into the closet up high and pull air in from down low. The 150 watt induction light might also be an option for you. If you stay with either led's or induction lighting, heat won't be your problem, humidity will. Since you will be in a large closet (small room) pay attention to the moisture. Slowly the walls and ceiling will start to grow mold. You may want to not only get a dehumidifer but paint the closet with a quality bathroom paint. When I moved my tent, the ceiling and window were nasty.

I just think ill be dooming myself if I use an hps light with no ventilation. I would rather have a smaller yield then a dead plant.

Any recommendations on a grow tent?
