Urgent! What should I do?

Hey everyone, so I finally got my 200watt sunblaster cfl today.

I built my grow box, 15''x27'', and its about 4 feet high, but I'll be using shelving to keep space compact.

I've attached the hood and the cfl to the top, and that leaves me 7inches left. I was about to order a 4'' inline fan and carbon filter until I read the specs... The carbon filter is 16 inches long! Pictures always led me to believe it was much smaller... So anyways, my question is, After the inline fan is connected, the carbon filter will be pretty much 100% outside of the box... Is that okay?

Also, is their a solution to this problem? Does the fan have to be directly infront of cfl, or can it be under?

Thanks!

you can run the filter like this:
fan/duct/grow room/duct/carbon scrubber to save room inside your grow area.

you need the filter 100% inside of the box. the fan can be out side of it but unless you want ur plants getting the fresh air your gonna need to either Retro your box or get a smaller filter. the filter will remove the smell not gonna do to good out side of the box.

yea blowing out will work but gonna shorten the life of your filter from what i have read everywhere and fans work more efficiently pulling air then pushing it.

filter > Fan > out of tent

Flower at 8" to 12" and stick to the blue spectrum during the first 3 weeks of flower to minimize stretching. Happy growing :peace:

Wow, Am I ever confused now, from pictures I thought that the fan was suppose to exaust in the filter...
I attached a picture for you guys to help more.
Also, how will I ''cool'' the grow box?IMG_20130816_131511.jpgIMG_20130816_131541.jpg

No, you need the fan to pull through the carbon filter for it to work to it's max potential and to reduce stress on the fan and prolong life of the filter. You can cool down that bulb by placing a fan on one side for intake and another on the other side for exhaust. I believe some PC fans will work, make sure you get some high CFM fans, 120 MM should be big enough. Rig them up to a power supply, 12v. I THINK it's to a DC power supply. Not sure, not an electrician :/

OHH!! Hit up Craigslist for chargers. I just found someone giving away a whole box of chargers for free.. But I don't need them lol

Well, would I even need something to cool off the box? I ran the cfl for an hour and the temperature was around 77degrees inside the box?
Also, does this mean that I can put the carbon filter anywhere in the box? Under plants/beside them even?

with a single bulb you might be able to just cut a hole in the back of the box right about at the bulbs height and put a 120mm fan hooked up to that.

put intake at the bottom of your cab. no need for carbon filter yet unless u are flowering don't wanna waste it cleaning clean air. for cpu fans you can use the small 80mm from a CPU heatsink since they run at a higher speed then case fans, i used old Laptop PSU for a few fans and a DirecTv box PSU for some more. you can run on avg 6 per PSU. look @ the output amps and look @ the fans draw amps. most cpu fans are around .16 Amps to .64 Amps.

Ya, I wasn't planning on using the carbon filter until it began to flower, just trying to prepare myself 100%.
How big should I make the intake?
Would 3 30cfm computer fans be good for cooling? Also, the heat is only high when thermo is very close to the light, even a few inches lower and its in the 80 degree range.

Now I am kind of confused on the whole carbon filter thing, does it NEED an inline fan pulling air through it? Can I use something like this?

Also, I plan to make my own carbon filter, so that I can make a smaller one to fit, unless the carbon filter can go anywhere in the box? Still have not found that answer.

go with a passive intake, neg pressure is on ur side then. Your gonna want that as close to your filter as possible those are use for air that is already moving most of the time. so take your filter connect it wit small piece of duct to ur fan, then out of ur box. are you using a DiY filter or a store bought?

edit:U can use ur cpu fans inside for air circulation.

I was thinking of connecting my DIY carbon filter (not made yet) to an exhaust fan (not purchased yet).
I have no computer fans, I was just brain storming on what to buy.
What type of fan exhaust should I get? I'll be making a small filter because the ones online seem to be all too big to fit in my box?
Also, how would the carbon filter work, if I had another fan exhausting air too keep the temps low, wouldn't that cause smelly air to exit :P ? Or will the filter+exaust have to be close to the light to do that job?

It's not about a fans RPM, a 80mm has to spin faster then a 120mm in order to push the same amount of CFM. Delta makes case fans that are 120mm @ 250 plus CFM.
