Pros, not sure if you put it here or in the other thread, but do you have an idea of what the total energy saving from switching to the LED? Including reduced cooling and the light?
Man, I wish I had some numbers for you. This is my first summer grow so I have nothing to base the HID lighting consumption on to compare.
All I know for sure is the following:
No secondary ventilation system for lighting. That required a in-line 180cfm fan at 100% power evacuating to attic space, you can imagine how hot it was up there!
No MH/HPS bulb and ballast burning up electricity at 400w. LED: 120w Veg Mode; 155w Flowering Mode
No room fans (floor and canopy) consuming electricity.
No 100% power consumption for room ventilation, in-line fan 160 cfm. (reduced to 25% power with LED for CO2 exchange and negative pressure for odor).
No excessive loss of house cooling from ventilation above. A/C is not constantly running during our 100+ degree temps outside. Lights on 75 degree in closet.
I am working on plans for insulated ducting to recapture the cool, scrubbed air (76 degrees) exhausting into the attic, and running it to one of the rooms in the house.
I can say this without hesitation, LED has made my grow closet very efficient on electricity consumption.
