definately NOT ready. see all the white pistils?that's new growth,i would say 2 weeks at least but get a microscope the trichs don't lie, nice plants!

I agree, I have a female sativa as well. She's been on 12/12 @400HPS as well since June 1, much like your nute cycle. I am enclosing a pic as well. I still have 10 days to 2 weeks. Good luck.image.jpg

You have to look at the trichomes under magnification to tell when they are done.
Clear trichs- Not ready high will be speedy and only a in the head buzz.
All Cloudy- Ready at peak thc should have nice high with small amount of body stone.
Mostly cloudy with a few amber- just past peak thc will give a nice high and body stone

Cloudy trichs is a good time to harvest heavy indica strains
Cloudy with a few amber is a good time for sativa dom strains.

The buds, the tips of the buds will always be a little behind in maturing sense they are newer growth.
So look at the over all color of the trichs on the buds just not the tips of the buds.

thanks guys, ya those diagrams are really useful. the thing im struggling to wrap my head around is that most of the original bud stamens havegone dark amber/brown as you can see in the pic, but there is also a lot of new ones on the outer edges. so my question is, are not the the amber/brown parts becoming useless now waiting for the new stuff to ripen?

The pistols ("stamens") are the wrong thing to look at to determine harvest time.
They give you a indication that the plants are about done but give no indication of what the actual trichomes are doing..
The only true way is to look at the trichomes when just about 100% of them are cloudy its ready at any time.
I wait till I see around 5-15% amber depending on the strain.
Sativa doms I let go closer to the 15% amber, and with indica'a I harvest when I have 5% or less amber trichomes.

Of all the guessing one has to do....especially on a first grow, determining when to harvest is probably the most exacting part of the grow. Go to your local Radio Shack or Hydro Store and ask for a hand-held microscope (with light preferably). They run around $15 and are worth ever penny.

Besides, it's really cool to look at your plant really close up.
