Smoking in public?

I just got my rec, and started smoking for the first time in my life. Problem is I can't be seen smoking joints. And after watching the GTA V gameplay video and watching one of the characters buying weed at the Venice boardwalk, I got the thought of smoking in public such as in the beach, and parks. I heard smoking marijuana is allowed wherever smoking tobacco is allowed.

I've been smoking joints, but see that people recommend vaporizers for stealth public smoking. How do they work? I've heard of oils, dabs, waxes, and dry herbs? I'm a new patient, and do not understand the lingo. Are dry herbs your basic nuggets you get from clubs? If so I would find that very convenient. I would have no more use for a grinder and papers. And I even heard smoking from a vaporizer wouldn't "waste" the weed.

What I'm basically looking for here is advice and recommendations on "vaporizers." Thank you.
