You don't ever want a root bound plant. Roots are more important then the flowers.

nah it doesnt work. But what does is extremely high P and K, a nail through the stems and flushing your plants for 2 weeks.

Well just my two cents, if you don't know much about growing plants, all kinds of plants I wouldn't try doing that to your plant intentionally. Can it be done, sure lots of care and knowing what and when the plant needs something. Please just learn to grow a healthy plant first.

it was sarcasm. MJ is a plant just like your moms house plants and the tomatoes yoou grow on the patio. Dont make it magical. Dont buy into the hype. Dont trust anything you read on a pot forum. In fact if its pot based at all take it with a grain of salt.

i have seen this posted, but in a slightly different way
that being when a flowering plant exhausts/consumes the nutrients in its soil base, it is an impetus for the plant to accelerate maturity
which does make some sense, if the uptake of nutrients is going down then it could be in the plant's best interest to accelerate its maturity
not saying this is effective or a good idea

i actually could see this to a point if you are root bound later into the flowering phase ONLY due to the fact that stress is actually good for MJ plants because it helps them to produce their natural defense AKA THC. I actually did the nail through the stem and it seemed to work pretty well for me on my last grow but i would swear on it now.

I would say that creating "flowers" in non MJ plants then yes, rootbound plants do tend to throw out more flowers. For example, the Mothering Tongue variety of plant, more commonly flowers when it is rootbound. As do Jasmine plants. I generally think this is done to make flowers attractive to customers going into garden centres. People will tend to buy the plants with lovely blooms already on them, not actually realising that when they get home the bloooms will not last that long.
When dealing with FRUIT, which I would class the flowers of MJ more in line with, then rootbound means less fruit in my opinion.

but in all seriousness, i have noticed my "rootbound" outdoor plants mature much faster than the ones with unlimited soil.
i know an outdoor grower who does swear by ceasing/limiting waterings toward harvest time and whose results are not matched by any grower i've seen on RIU.
i can only speak from my own experiences though.

I used to know guys who would drive a razor blade through the stem to stress it into turning
purple in the stems. They sold bunk weed so I dont think their method increased anything except
for stress.
