I am no expert but I set up about 3 different ways of cloning on my first attempt the only ones that took were in just straight up dirt in a clear plastic dixie cup. They were late in flower clones took 2 weeks to root and are flowering now. I am going to try and take some more clones from them and see if I get good results.

I built a bubble cloner I tried jiffy discs finally just a cup of dirt was the only thing I had work. KISS cloning seems to be the best way, the more complicated I made it the quicker they yellowed and lost any signs of green.
WTF is KISS cloning? sounds kinky LMAO

Sxlstew, a cup of warm water??? are you shitting me????

I can't even get my ivy to root in water, how pathetic is that?????

Rosey: were you using nutrient rich soil? or clean 100% soil?? this is why i switched to plugs. i was gonna try seed starting mixes and everything but there's been soo much success with plugs i figured FUCK IT. for 20 bux a bag of 50 you can't go wrong. I have a friend here who offered me $20 on each clone yesterday. before they were even rooted. would have been able to stock up big time on plugs. haha. but i didn't want to toss all 6 his way.

lol i have only gotten a Purple Winter Creeper(it's not a cool sounding weed strain) to root in water. and that's it. but i plan to try it sometime. just to see if i get anything any faster and can have multiple WORKING cloning methods. :)

I think he may have said something about a very small amount of Super Thrive being added to the water. but he swaps water daily to ensure nothing rots.

Are you talking about these plugs?http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROOT-RIOT-SEED-STARTER-PLUGS-10-Plugs-Free-Shipping-/350581040827?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51a04226bb

Oh I tried just a cup of water too, knew I was forgetting something, I couldn't get that to work for me either, I was a little impatient and think I only let these ones sit for 7 days, not thinking about them taking longer since they were coming from flower. TBH I don't even think I put cloning gel in the cups of dirt just straight dirt, made sure to cut the unnecessary leaf matter.

Cloning seems to be tricky to get the hang of but once you get a method that works for you it sticks and works with good %.

Also bury them deep. I had a couple about 1.5 inches into the soil cup and others pushed in as far as I could and the deep ones rooted while the others wilted.

Sxlstew...I was using FFOF...probably too hot...but the last two efforts were in recycled weed soil.
Here's what you can do. Wait for the hubby to come home. Sneek up to the wallet. Take out $30. Take a quick trip to any grow shop(or garden outlet if none are available) But straight perlite. You can root and grow in just perlite. it's completely inert(unless you get Miracle Gro Brand, wash it first if you do.) take your cut at the 45. take a second cut about 1/4 of an inch up the stem but do it under water. this will keep any and all air OUT of the stem. then dip into gel and pop into perlite. I usually like to water very lightly with the Olivia's bowl when i am done. there are very trace amounts of N in there and it's not too much to burn. Clonex rooting gel is amazing. Roottech is Advanced Nutrients right? that'll be perfect too. scrap the heating pad until the winter. You can use whatever container you want to clone now adays since you can cut the bottom off of 2L-3L bottles or 1/2-1 gallon bottles as well. use them to cover the cut and retain moisture within the "dome"

hahahaaa ;)
He was supposed to pick me up some perlite last week but he forgot :(
I guess I will have to order it, hell right now I have some packing peanuts that I tore up that would probably work LOL
the 2 liter dome on my roses worked good, guess I'll have to try that for my next go around.

just took some fresh pics of my girls outside. Going to post now :)

Try that out sweetie.. it's $25 for the tray and plugs, the dome for it at a grow shop is like $3-$5. it'll increase the space available for clones. i space mine one cell apart. so every other hole is used.

I'll check out those pics soon :)

Rosey seems like we have the same luck when it comes to cloning hopefully things will change. I just order some of those plugs i will let you know how it goes

Make sure your plugs are just moist and not too wet. after 3-4 days of misting i actually had to squeeze a little water out the bottom of each plug. if you do that make sure you squeeze LOW on the plug so that the stem inside is not damaged.

NOTE: This is my first successful cloning attempt. I have just gotten this down so i am NOT a pro at this by any means. My advise is simply for those who can't get something to root like me, and how i successfully went about it this time. Any better grower out there, please feel free to tell me how wrong i am or just to add something to this. I want to get 100% success. so Help us little people out! :)

For this to be my third year growing, I feel I've come a long way when it comes to training.

your pretty much spot on u take clones from the bottom because there the easiest to clone something about haveing the proper amount of horomones u pick a clone about 4-6 inches and you cut on a 45degree then cut off everything exept 2 sets of nodes, if ur not going to dip them in rooting gel or whatever u have right away u can place in a cup of water until ur ready, i use jiffy pellets there flat and u add warm water and they expand or rockwool, u dip them i use clonex and put them in the jiffy plug and gently pack around the stem, then i put my dome over them because they need alot of humidty and spray once a day and open the lid on my dome for 15minutes and put back under my flurescents lights, i think flurescents r the best type of light to use on clones, oh yeah i also have a heat mat i put under the tray, 75-80 r the temps, hope that helps ive had like 90% germination from this technique
