People argue that the smaller hoods provide more concentrated light in a smaller area. There is also a smaller amount of area to cool with the available air flow. The 6" has a lesser ability to cool so it needs to be smaller to maintain a certain temperature. You could get an 8" and a reducer bit I think that would be working against your better interests.

The raptors, I believe the reflective hood part is same size. eight or 6 only thing that's different is the diameter of the hole. I have four 8" I run in flower I love the spread on those babies!

i also wouldn't reduce down youll b killing your cfm's not to mention stress on the fan.

The six is the old model it now has the hinge option like the eight which is the new model.

The 6" is actually smaller. Shorter both lenth and width... I did really want the bigger one cuz im in a 7x9 room... Right now its jjust 1 1000watt dual arc light. Eventaully i want two lights... probly go 2 600s or possibly two 1000's not sure yet.. I just dont have the money for more frickin equipment... and a reducer sounds janky... im not about janky...

you would want the 8 inch vent if you plan to put a good 3-4 lights in so you have better air flow but you lose a little bit of your lumens with the bigger vent. But you did good since you don't have the money minds well grab 2 budget light systems after next harvest then after that harvest then you could pimp your room out the way you want then a year from now you'll be able to rock a closed system with co2.
