Help With Veg Lighting

Ok, So my friend gave me these 12 Clones. And he just gave me a 24 hour notice before showing up at my house, so after an hour of thinking about where should i put them I decided to use one of my Bathrooms since it has good space, AC air and of course an exaust fan to suck the air out.

So I went and bought a 4 Feet 3 Bulb T8 unit for lighting. The bulbs installed are (2) T8 - 32 Watts 5000k 2850 Lumens. AND (1) T8 - 32 Watts 3000K, 2950 Lumens.

Also you can see in the picture below that I can hook up more CFL bulbs if needed.

Also the Bathroom temperture is around 70-72 degress.

Lights are 4 inches from the top of the clones.

And as of 2:10am 7/27/23 I have water them once (around 12 hours ago, right after i received them) and I spray watered them with a spray bottle an hour ago. I used filtered water, the one we drink =)

I am about to get reflective paper? I forgot it's name lol.

So please guys tell me what I need to correct, More lighting, different bulbs. Or move plants to a different location. And also as per the size of these clones how old you guys these plants might be? 2-3 weeks? Also how long should it be stayed in Veg state.

Thanks in advance and o yes expect more noob questions from me and please take a look at the pictures attached.

PS- I have a big room that it will be used specially for flowering, But I just think the Bathroom can be the right place for Veg.. The whole restroom is lighted up these two pictures looks kind of dark but the whole restroom is bright.

look good, and your light should be great for small clones/seedlings, tho in a few week`s, depending on how fast your plants grow (look a bit droopy right now) they will outgrow em and need more, a fixture more could easily work (tho look for T5HOs instead of T8 if possible) or just add CFLs if you already have em

rule of thump is to go for high Kelvin for Veg and low for flowering (tho mix em a bit)

so go for 5000-6500K for Veg and 2700-3000K for flowering I like to mix em in a 1-3 ratio with a majority of 6500K in veg and a majority of 2700K in flowering

and 70-72F is a bit low, 75-80F is more like it, doing light on

and be careful with over watering, as I said they already do look a bit droopy, let em dry out a bit now before you water them agin (probably 2-3 days in them small pot`s)

did they root probably yet ?

I like to mist mine under the leave`s with just plain water in the morning to give em a bit of moist in the start until they have a good root net to take care of it (do it in the morning so they have all day to dry and is`t soaked doing light off, don't want mold/mildew in there)

and keep the bathroom ventilation on all the time, plants need fresh air/Co2 all the time

Can my T8 Do the job for Veg?, and why do you prefer the T5, over T8.

About the roots, I don't know, maybe not. How old you think.
Is it ok to take them outside to get natural sun light, I'm in north cali. right now temps are around 105:shock:.

ASAP replace the cfls with Cree NW + WW globe bulbs available at either HD/Lowes

Cut ~ half the length of the larger leaf blades

Slipon is exactly right about the lights for veg...I think the reflective material your talking about is mylar...

Whats the humidity like? As far as why the T5 is the best of the T's is because it's the most advanced of them

my general rule of thumb is half as big as you want them to be when they are done. those look good don't forget to top them in like 3 weeks. I've never heard of someone using t8's for weed vegging. i actually have 20 8 foot tall original udub clones in a big room completely covered with panda film using 4000 watts of high output harvest red. at a job of mine they were actually giving away plug and play versions of what your using and and with 200 watts of t8's on one plant you can tell the difference bongsmilie

also make sure your veg room is light proof for best results and as soon as all those are at least half a foot tall put them under a thousand watter mh for best results. DR. grinspoon out :blsmoke:

also going to the grow shop and getting like 5 biodome for 10 bucks would do those a world of good. they act as mini greenhouses and promote faster and more productive root growth

Ok guys I have an update pics of my 12 clones under T8 and CFL lights. They 2 weeks old by now. And all i have done is just water them once a day and spray the top of them twice a day. Now I am ready to put them in a bigger pot because the roots are visible at the bottom of the current pots they are in right now. BUT here is what i need help with. So here I go with my questions regarding Veg stage:

-DO i need to top them or wait a few more days/weeks?
-How long should I keep them on VEG before I put em in my flowering room? ( flowering room should be finished next weekend, running 1000w HPS lights )
-According to these pictures do you think those T8's are doing an ok, good, or excelent job ? or should I change to T5's or??
-What type of nutes should I add and at what point? Right now when they are just 2 weeks old or when?
-The soil i am using is: Organic Roots By Aurora.
- The water I use is filtered water the one we drink =)

Very nice green ladies UOENO IMO i would veg those till they are atleast 2 feet considering the fact they will double or triple in flower and im gunna say that you have about 7 or 8 foot ceilings?

It would be beneficial to top these plants now to assure you have nice large tops.

those T8s to me seem to be doing an ok job if you look your leaves in my opinion they are stretching for the light alittle more then i prefer. you could double up on the t8s or find some more powerful (more lumens) cfls.

you can add nutes at many different stages depending on the amount you are introducing.. IMO 30 days old and a 1/4 of what they call for on the bottle/package.

hope this is helpful these are the same questions i have had answered.

EDIT... At second look those cfls you have in the back sorry to say but they seem to be a terrible design for what u need because the majority of the light comes off the sides of your cfls not the tip and you shades seem to be catching the light more then refracting it. best bet fiddle around with those fixtures till you find a better way to utilize them.

Thanks for your input =)

So when you say that my leaves are streching for the light is that a bad thing or? I have 2 bulbs 5500k and one warm one on that 4ft fixture plus the CFL lights.i will get a fixture with some T5's and return the T8 fixture.
So 2 feet and then trow them in the flowering room?
what lights u are using for flowering/veg?

Im doing all cfl right till harvest so im using 9 2700k cfls and a 2 t5 bulbs

i just meant that when your leaves lift up high pointing toward the roof rather then laying more flat they are trying to extend toward the light non the less they are happy and dont seem to be stressed at all but if they are lifting that high it may result in greater node spacing making the plant get stretched and less bushy. what kind of shade do you have for your HPS you said u were using for flower? seems you have alot of flower room space so plant size is all up to you and how big a yield and how long you feel like waiting for your plants to veg keep in mind most flower times are 5-8 weeks

I am a first timer on vegin and flowering. These 12 plants were given to me when the were 1 week old right now they are 2 weeks old half foot. Now for flowering I will be buying all the stuff which is:
-3 or 4 HPS 1000 Watts ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/150960088148?var=450145115810 ) <~~~~ something like this. unless you recomend something better.
-Orca Grow Film
- a filter for the odor
- 3 fans
- Air duct for the lights.
And what ever else i need.
- will be using 5 or 10 galones containers
- going with soil in this my first try in growing (organic roots by Aurora)
- My goal is to fit 20 - 32 plants in that empty room.

O yes I will do my journal when I put all of my babes in flowering. Right I am testing the waters playing around with lighting for my VEG. I will keep using my bathroom for just veg and nothing else. So i will get a 4-6 FT 6 bulb T5 fixture with mixed with 3000k and 6500k (2 warm bulbs and 4 blue ones).

I spent $2,700 in my gaming PC in May, why not spend it in growing Medical Marijuana for your personal use.:bigjoint:

That light will be enough for what you need .. your def not cheaping out are you .. can i ask why u need odor filter tho if u can legally grow? haha. but i also would like to add that if your spending that much on Flower room dont forget that your veg room is almost if not as important as your flower room a nice strong seedling or clone will in turn produce more for you. These plant tend to like there space so when making changes to your veg maybe make it so there is enough light you can have you plants half foot apart and you will notice they will bush better.

anyways nice setup ur gunna have im pretty jelous
