Hey up first thing I would address is the height of your box compared to max size your plant can reach. For you having a 30in height means you need to subtract the size of the pot your using or from base of dirt to 3in under your cfl lighting giving you the true total amount of height restrictions for your plant. So as a guess if your total height is 30in - 10in (pot) - 8 in (lights and safe distance for no burning) you have 12in for actual height of plant. Now this is a good point to mention that with smaller grows to micro all though may seem easier them larger grows you will need to practice several growing techniques to maximize your yield putting new growers perhaps into a more advanced grow then first believed. So keeping it as simple as possible you have two ways of looking at this one you would of wanted to go 12/12 from seed keeping the plant height from reaching normal growth followed by LSTing and SCROG for max. Results in yield. Choice 2 is you would veg untill you reach a height that allows for double to triple the height of the current stature of the plant applying the same techniques as option one the biggest diffrence being that with vegging your creating a healthier all around plant that will reward you with more growth and yield but may force you to apply more technical And stressful techniques Of growing like FIMing or topping your plants from growing out of the limits of your box. As far as light schedules go I prefer creating or replicating nature the best I can as personal choice. 24/0 does have logic behind it and I dont want to debate about what schedule is better first and foremost because every grow is diffrent so I will l will simply say your light schedule will work just fine since nothing your saying will stress the plant or divert growth from where you want it.

Also I forgot to mention try not to fall victim to exact schedules two weeks of lights at this two weeks of that instead learn to read your specific plant and what its telling you compared to your grow situation this is will help you loads for further grows and also prepare you for larger ones where it may not be so easy to give so much love to every individual plant. Also for nutes my suggestion for now organic or not if theres no signs of needing nutes less is best. If your looking for somthing organic already made maybe check out pure blend I've used it myself with great results wouldnt suggest making any homemade teas unless you want to use your piss but I really dont want to start a topic on that due to controversy wrapped up in ignorance. So hope this helps do your research and collectively come up with your own opinion I think your gonna do just fine!!

Hello Mehrific Thanks so much for joining in! You nailed the exact point of this journal and what I really wanted readers to take from this. This plant when given just the basics and love can still thrive. I think most new growers fail by over thinking things. I also think most "professional growers" forget this point especially when mentoring someone new.
Not everyone has the same situation, strain, or grow room its important as a new grower or pro grower to never think you know it all and always strive to learn somthing new. Example three weeks ago if you told me your plants had been burried for 8 days not even given a drop of water or light all my years of growing would of said there dead. Anyways thanks again for the drop in the strain is somewhat of a mystery since there was 12 seedling orig. And 4 diffrent strain. Could be master kush, pineapple exp., lemon skunk, or white widow. Looks indica but after so much stress who know at this point I have zero experience growing from death lol.
Very well put, and I couldn't agree more. When I started my first outdoor grow this season many of my friends, most growing indoors, would flood me with info, plus I was reading and researching like a madman. At first I was hovering over my plants concerned with every little thing I noticed. After awhile it became exhausting and overwhelming. Finally I got to a point where I told myself I can't keep this up for the entire season, I must let go. I did, and things got so much better. My stress levels went down, I feel so much better and I actually think my plants thanked me for this. Now things are rolling along and it looks like I might have a decent harvest. I must add that I've only got a small garden, strictly for personal consumption, I'm a patient.

Hey BWG thanks for the comment. I think most of us start that way lol in fact my first grow in 1997 before the internet was the internet of today. You either learned from high times, stealing a grow book from your local library, or got info from your buddy who's dads second cousins best friends wife told them "This is how you do it." My first grow never made it past germination due to burying the seeds like 8 in down then steam rolling the soil and when nothing popped thinking add more water add more water!! then again I think back then one buddy told me hydro grew underwater in fish tanks lol I didnt know if that was true or not had to wait for sept. Issue of high times. I think its great all this info is here now for new growers but does in some lights present a completely new set of problems. Thanks again man hope all your grows go great!

Day 15 - "The choice is made"
No big changes in the girls today. No feeding today either everythings starting to dial in for some healthy veg time. I decided in thanks too upup I will keep this grow very simple inexspensive, and filled with more love then nutes. I Will be LSTing and SCROGing as both techniques are important to any grower and really are in my opinion easier and less stressful to the plant then say super cropping (super cropping can be extremely beneficial just a lot more risk for a new grower). Anyways, Thanks again upup for the post as now this grow has a dialed in direction hope you stay along till harvest.

No for sure I will keep checking on you, I feel I could learn alot of the necessities from someone of your status. Big props, I respect what you do brother. Also I know this may be quite early but I went ahead and transplanted into a 60/40 (60-miraclegro) (40-foxfarmorganicstarter) soil in a 3gallon pot since I will be busy for about the next week. I watered maybe 12-14oz of water just to get her situated in her new habitat. Hope I don't stress her too much since she was only about 5 days old or so. But she is looking very healthy for now.

Right on up.....I know I sound like a broken record but with miracle grow soil just remember those time release nutes in there if you read the back a lot of them say not for pots or containers simple because its hard to have the proper drainage by volume of soil makeing it possible for build ups you dont want like salt. Salt is not nice to roots or the micro organisms that benefit your medium. I would of switched the foxfarm to 60 and M.G. 40 or lower ratio 70/30. I had a buddy that swore by miracle grow for nutes (the tomato one thats pink) but never would use the soil. Anything time released can really cause grief especially if you start adding nutes to your feeding. I was actually thinking about using the tomato M.G. mybuddy used for this journal just because how much more simplified could it get. After looking into it only thing I dont like is the amount of urea nitrogen but plan to give such light feedings I dont know if it would matter.

Yeah I was pretty wary of the miracle grow from what I have read, but I must say since I dropped the taproot the first day in MG. She sprouted almost instantaneously, had a very lush green to her, and now after the transplant and the 60/40 mix she doesn't look very stressed. I added a little epson salt to a 12oz bottle of water, (maybe like 1/10th teaspoon) due to curling leaves. A few hours later she was back to normal. Now she is looking very nice. I watered a little last night and now that she is in a larger pot I think I will only water every 3-5 days. I will have some updated pics in my journal soon. But with the MG I think works great. . . so far, lol. This will be a nice little project though I think, I have 1blackjack baby in a 3 gallon pot. 1 42w cfl and another 13w cfl. Both 2700k spectrum. LOL and although they are for flowering I think they must be doing pretty well in the veg stage too. I wonder how much of a difference it really makes.

Speaking of which. I think one day when I have more time and space in my future. I will take 4 fem seeds from seedling and run tests. one with 2700k all the way through
one with 6500k all the way through. one with 2700k for veg 6500k for flower. one with 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower.

I think that could make for an excellent journal. All would be done with minimum nutes just good lighting, air flow and watering!

Hey Up kind of a hard one to answer there technically over a month old from before the death star visited them. However, the pic of them at there largest is day 16 from when I first scooped them up from the disaster and replanted them.
Strains still a mystery but pretty sure there gonna be either lemon skunk or pineapple express my two more sativa dominant plants.

Oh wow, very nice though they seem to be doing well now. How long do you plan to wait to flower them?

Great question...I don't know lol..since these two girls wont be going in the new grow room i'm thinking of keeping this as "low budget" as
Possible so as soon as I decide what i'm going to flower in and get my height restrictions will kind of get a better idea on my veg time. For now just happy to see so much life and rejuvenateing growth on them !

Thanks for the input sourpuss I do agree obviously theres more surface of the bulb when on its side and pared with a reflector you maximize the amount of light and its directional path. However, for any new grower dealing in a extremely small space I wouldnt put to much stock in worrying about it.

Day 17 - Full feeding today distilled water only lots of new growth on the little one. Going to start LSTing soon because there is great undergrowth and really want to maximize these plants potential. On a personal note i'm getting a little nervous as I start to head towards flowering. I really hope these girls don't herm or end up male I feel some what invested to see these girls from death to a respectable harvest given the situation.

I think they will pay you back tenfold for the love you showed and bringing em back to life, just keep doing what your doing and put your trust in these lovely ladies!

Thanks up...! It is what it is, if nothing else its been a pleasure just to show the resilience of the plant and learn from them.

Day 18 "time to train the strain"
Today its time to start LSTing these babies! I went about this using a couple different techniques for two reasons. 1.) My two plants are growing differently.
2.)To show The importance of catering to those differences.

I also want to point out they were watered yesterday. This helps the roots speed up the flow of xylom and phloem in the main stem or stalk, resulting in the stem becoming easier to bend and shape.
With the little plant I used a very simple technique using a bobby pin shaped like a hook. I used this technique because of its short stature. It would of been extremely difficult to tie her down correctly using string or other methods.
With the larger plant it was exactly the opposite if I used this technique I could of easily snapped or damaged the main stem (if you ever do this don't panic look up super cropping and grab some tape). So with the larger one I tied her down in a more traditional LST technique. Its always important to remember when tieing your plants down never tie a knot to tight. You want the stem to have room to grow. After tieing the large one down I returned back after a few hours to find she had already straightened her self out. So using a strong fan leaf I took a small piece of scotch tape and taped her down using only the tip of the fan leaf.
