Grow tent sizes help

I got a basement area that has about 509 square feet that I'd like to place a tent in. What size/type tent will be the best for a basement grow area? (H: 6'5 ft, L: 9 ft, W: 8'7 ft)

It all depends on your budget, how many plants you want to grow, etc. I have a 32" x 32" x 5' H grow tent, which is just over 7 sq. ft. I grow 6 plants in 2 gallon hempy buckets. In a space the size you mentioned you could do something similar. I have a tent from this company, they are sturdier than your average tent because they are made from thicker canvas:

Well here is the deal my father in law has als so I'm doing his in the basement and mine with cfl my father in law has Money so the one I'm talking about is the tent for him and he sed he wants to buy the whole kit ! Me personaly my budget is real tight so I'm sure I could toss a few plants in there to get me going but anyway we want as much pot as we can get the most smoke possible with of course sticking by the 8 plant law so 8 plants but I'm going to veg these plants for awhile to get as much as possible but I will also be lst and super croping and topping

8 plants is quite a bit. You want at minimum 1 sq. ft. if you're doing SCROG/SOG, and 2 sq. ft. minimum if you're doing any sort of cropping/fimming. So you are looking at either an 8 sq. ft. tent (2x4) or 16 sq. ft. (4x4). Remember the larger the grow space, the more wattage of light you'll need (try to stick to 50w per sq. ft. as a rule of thumb).

4 to 6 plants in an 8 sq. ft. tent under a 400 or 600 watt HPS would be ideal for you're situation (8 sq. ft. * 50w = 400w). Also remember the more wattage the light the hotter the area will get, so ventilation will become very important as well.

6 x 6 = 36 sq. ft. 36 * 50w = 1,800 watts! So basically you would need two 1,000w lights. At that point you are entering commercial growing territory.

I'd go for a taller tent over sq footage unless you're not growing for personal.

You'll probably want two tents, veg & flower.

I'm going with a 55' x 55' x 78 it's a complete grow tent kit / hydro arrogant ion system . It only comes with one 1000 watt light it's a hole kit so I shud be good with that right

I would be careful buying "kits." Take your time in researching and be sure you aren't going to be purchasing something you will eventually regret. Could you maybe provide a link to the kit you're looking at?

everything bought on amazon on the cheap, except for the clip fans, Kmart for those. I do run 2 tents, veg and flower. I now run an AC unit in flower as the HPS bulbs run HOT!!!!!!
I stuffed 7 plants in there. its a little tight, but the yield looks extremely promising.

If you wanted to build a custom sized grow area a lot of people will use those emergency blankets you can buy at Walmart. They are shiny and you could just build a frame to your specs and then use the blankets on the walls.

I love my secret Jardin tent- whatever size you decide get quality... Cheapo tents leak light like a sieve I found out. I use a DR90 but it's only 36x36x74 maybe too small for what you are lookin for. Kits found online typically contain stuff you don't need to upsell you but I have seen the tent/light pkgs from htgsupply and priced it out- they not hugely discounted but if you were gonna buy everything anyway they are a reputable shop good luck
